Surely, the Isuzu gearbox comes in its own housing...

Usually, the odo is driven from the gearbox output shaft. I'm guessing what's different is the gearing on the odo output between the old & new gearboxes - the revolutions of the odo output cable for a given distance are different.
Srini, I think Swathy is talking about the differential unit. The dive shaft is supposed to match with the Diff gear which in some cases don't. So the diff unit all so to be changed for an Izuzu Gear box. Since Swathy mentioned Odo and this matter there is a little confution i believe. As usual the odo cable receiving the drive from Gear box only, not from differential unit.
