A person named Keerthi attended the car. Quite well trained on HM cars and has got a garage too.

Keerthi is a gentleman. He not only advises you on the car but also gives a reasonable cost. I know him since 2015. Give him 5 Star recommendation to anyone needing help on HM vehicles.

Re: Contessa Classic

Does anyone have pressure details of the Power steering pump of Ambassador and the Contessa?
I came to know that my Contessa is fitted with a pump meant for the Ambassador and off late is making groaning sounds. I will be changing this next week with a new pump of same type but was just curious of why the Contessa pump is different from the Ambassador whilst the engine is same!

For a car a 90 bar pump is good for power steering. The difference in the pumps could be because of the flow rate requirements for different sizes (dia & travel) of Racks in both the vehicles.

So in that case what would happen if the flow rate is more or less then what is required?

Looks like the groaning sound is a sign of wear out. Power steering pumps are vane pumps. This sound is expected if the vanes are worn out. Better replace it with a new one or a used good one and restore your peace of mind.

Re: Contessa Classic

Hello experts,

I am restoring a '97 Contessa diesel. Any tip on which power window can be fixed in Contessa?

I restored a '97 Classic from the ground up. Tip for maximum reliability = remove all the unnecessary stuff. When I restored my Jeep, I went back to basics. Threw out the air-con & jugaad 1.8 ISZ engine. Made it bare-bones basic and guess what? Not a breakdown in 10 years .

Go with manual window winders. They will also suit your Contessa.

You restored a Contessa? When? Process and pictures please for benefit of all.
I agree on the manual winders - classics love less dependency on electronics.

How much did you get the winders for. Hope it is working well.
