Mods for my new i20

I have my berry red i20 Asta lying at my home for about one month now. Have not been able to drive it so far as I am still out of the country. Anyway, I have some plans to do some modifications to it when I return. These include...but not limited to

1. Bigger alloys
2. Chrome plating on the front grill lip
3. ICE upgrade (starting with speakers and damping)
4. Projector head lamps
5. Seat covers (Stanley?)

Let me know some good options for the above.

I find that another i20 owner here has upgraded to 15" Lenso wheels. Looks cool. Which are the best tire options for this? Where to buy?

Where to get the chrome plating done?

Not sure about stock speaker size. Need help here.

Projector head lamps like the ones found in Swift. Hope it will look good on i20.

Hi, congrats on your purchase.

However, one point though, projector headlamps will void your warranty. Unless you dont care about it.

Personally I would not recommend 16 inch wheels for the i20, but either ways here are the two sizes -

195/50 R16 and 205/45 R16

Am not sure if you would find the 2nd size in the market. But the first one should fit the bill perfectly

Thanks RD, any specific reason for not going in for the 16 inches? the former option sounds good....will most probably settle for 15 inches, but keeping all options open. BTW the i20 sold in the UK has 16 inch alloys. thanks and cheers.

Well, the only reason is, that the car would thrash into potholes, also making the ride quite firm, which is really not suited to our bumpy and dismal road conditions. I don't know how good the roads are in Bangalore though.

In the UK the roads are really good, you could say silky smooth everywhere. And that is why they can give that tyre option there, for people who would want better grip and handling.

I personally had switched to 15 inchers and the ride has not been affected that adversely, but the handling has definitely improved. Goodluck!

Hey appuchan, have you completed the mods on your i20? If Yes, then how about some photos? I am looking at buying a berry red or blue i20 and want to upsize the tyres to 15".

I had seen a video on You Tube of Pete's i20. That was running 16" borbet alloys, looked very nice & filled the wheel well also. But keeping the roads in mind 15" alloys should be better in terms of practicality.

Cheers

Hey, can you post some more pictures of this? I cannot quite make out the tyres and alloys clearly.

Hey, got any more pics? I'd really appreciate it, cause I'm planning the same treatment (black+chrome lip) for my car! Thanks.

hey appuchan,

congrats on the new purchase, as per my knowledge if you log onto the yokohama tire website and have a look at the tire sizes, there you would get to see the outer diameter of your o.e tire (full chart available). match that o.d size with an upsize o.d you are looking for, and you should have a wider tire with lower profile on an upsized rim. on a red i20 you should put gun metal grey rims with a machine or chrome lip, would look cool.
