the other option would be Sonax spray wax or dupont spray wax. good products provided you have the energy to rub off the wax and buff the painted surface. if you do so you will have a shiny car and muscular arms!
@sunilrj, can you please tell me where can i buy the soft99 in Bangalore.

I shall shortly be taking delivery of the Skoda Superb 1.8 TSI A/T at Chandigarh. The dealer says that he will put Teflon -- free of charge -- on the car before delivery. Of course, after reading posts on this Forum, I will ensure that it is the original product that he uses.

But is this necessary for the Superb which has metallic paint? If it is, then should I get it at the time of delivery or wait for some time? Also, should I go in for some other company's product even if I have to pay for it?

ivar1951, congrats on the purchase. TBHP doesn't recommend Teflon coating and I suggest you read the thread on the same.

To maintain car's shine in the long term, shampoo and wax it regularly. All the best.

I have contacted 3M Bangalore office and they have pointed me to contact RNS (Maruti Service Center) on Hosur Road. 3M representative in RNS quoted 3700+tax for doing paint protection in my 2008 model wagonR.

By the way when I contacted Pratham Motors , on outer ring road, they have quoted Rs 3000 for Dupont paint protection.

Since I have renewed my car insurance with them last month, I got an offer of 50% discount for a package of Dupont paint protection+A/c duct sanitization. So it will be nearly 1500Rs which i need to pay.

I am interested to know how good and worth is the dupont paint protection for 1500Rs?

Which is better 3M or Dupont?

In the medical field, now everybody talks about "evidence based medicine", i.e., every treatment protocol is based on good hard evidence that it actually works.

The question of these paint protections/antirust coatings etc seems similar to me. I suppose we will have to follow up a certain number of cars with and without these protection treatments over a period of 4-5yrs and see which group corrodes more to understand whether they are actually needed or not.
Also a rough idea can be obtained from owners in this forum who have not used any of these treatments as to whether they have noticed corrosion in their cars

Guys I personally checked Pratham Motors ORR yesterday, to know how they are carriying out this Paint protection job.

Surprisingly I have seen two kinds or material there , one liquid Wax material and an another material in a can without any stickers. They claim thats the dupont material used for paint protection and since they have 20+ branches, they will take the portions of this material from a centralized barrel.

They also told me that the liquid wax process is cheaper than dupont process. Since i have that 50% off coupons with me. I will be going ahead with this on coming wed almost.

Any suggestions?

Waxoyl Paint Protection in Bangalore

Recently I started feeling that the gloss that was there on my Polo when I received it was diminishing day by day. The car looked a lot duller after only a couple of weeks even though I had been using the Jopasu duster and the car had only been washed twice the entire time.

Chethan B. G. had advised me to get paint protection done immediately after delivery. However I have had prior experience with different mechanics who "polished" the car for Rs. 1,200 each time even though I could hardly perceive any change in the car. Moreover what little effect was there went away in a month or so. I began to believe that the whole thing was a racket and I was being ripped off for applying wax by hand which is what one mechanic finally admitted to.

While delivering my car Volkswagen Downtown had given me an offer of 3M Coating for Rs. 5,000 with 2 free services within 1 year. However I had turned this offer down at the time because 1) I was skeptical, 2) I didn't know if the price was right and 3) I didn't want to keep going back for the treatment when the vehicle itself had a service interval of only once a year.

However as mentioned earlier, I felt I needed to get something done. Came to this thread and still couldn't get a definitive answer, but Sunilrj's post gave me some confidence in Waxoyl.

Called up Opulent in Pune, the Waxoyl distributor for India, and a disinterested receptionist gave me the number of "Orange Care" in J P Nagar, Bangalore. Called up the number half-expecting another disinterested person. However I ended up speaking to a Director named Ramakrishnan with an infectious sense of enthusiasm and I ended up feeling confident. He says he will send Rajeev over.

The next day Rajeev comes over at 10:00 am on time to my house as scheduled. The first thing I could make out about Rajeev is that he is knowledgeable and professional.

So I asked him what does this Waxoyl Paint Protection Treatment do? So he says it basically protects the paint from fading and maintains the gloss. The product comes with a 1 year guarantee in India whereas in Europe the guarantee is for 3 years as it is considerably less dusty there. Generally the protection should last for 1.5 to 3 years in India.

He also tells me that people misconceive the treatment as some sort of scratch or ding protection, which it isn't. There is no product for that.

For me the biggest benefit would be that I wouldn't have to wax the car every now and then to get that wet look (in fact Waxoyl advises not to wax over their coat). Also, I would be protecting the paint.

The car had already been prepped up by my car cleaner who had washed the car well that morning (PICTURE 0). The technician started buffing the car with a white liquid (buffing compound -- PICTURE 1) and a sheepskin brush on the machine (PICTURE 1B). In the process the small scratches that my dog made (PICTURE 0B) were eliminated.

Then the technician applied a gloss coat (PICTURE 2) this time with a sponge pad (PICTURE 2B). Finally he applied the paint sealant (PICTURE 3) by hand (PICTURE 3A). Apparently the sealant itself costs Rs. 1,500. We waited some 10 minutes until the sealant dried up into a white colour (PICTURE 3B) and then the car was wiped clean.

End result: Please see the last picture.

All in all a very pleasurable experience. I highly recommend Rajeev (Mobile: 95919 75423). Orange Care are the dealers for Bangalore and most of Karnataka and they work out of a number of Ford & Mahindra dealerships and in fact my technician came from India Garage. However they visit homes on call provided the car is washed and there is a plug point nearby.

Interestingly Rajeev told me that Waxoyl (a Swiss company) is certified by VW in Germany but here they are in the process of getting certified by VW India. Once they get certified, they may soon start operations at VW Palace Cross which is related to India Garage.

When I asked him about the difference between 3M & Waxoyl, he said he didn't want to go into the details but they are worldwide specialists in paint protection and corrosion protection unlike 3M. I am seriously thinking of getting the corrosion treatment done on my 800.

I ended up paying 2,850 because they mistook the Polo to be a small car like the Alto. The actual price is around 4K for the Polo.

Whether the product works or not, it is too early for me to say. However if water is still beading on the surface at the end of 1 year, I would then say that it is working. Look forward to my post in this very thread!

That was a great description of Waxoyl treatment. Thanks for sharing. But why are your wipers not in the parked position?

That is the maintenance position for wipers on the Polo. I think it has been detailed in Polo ownership posts.
