No unless you want to rip your DSG to bits.
Where did you get the max torque figures for the gearbox?

It would be unusual for a manufacturer to mate a gearbox to an engine where the max torque of the engine exactly matches the max torque of the gearbox. That would mean the gearbox was at its tolerance limit. Not a happy scenario.

As far as I know the same engine is also available in different cars (Audi ) with higher power output so wonder what gearbox is used in that case.

I can't comment on the Audi.
I don't know much about the gearboxes they use though they surely share engines within the VW group.

The 7 speed DSG is a dry clutch as compared to the 6 speed DSG which is a wet clutch used in the diesel version of the Laura and the Superb in India.

Here's the link to Skoda Australia site which explains the 7 speed DSG technology.

The last line reads -

The other benefit of the 7-speed DSG is that it can now be combined with smaller engines, yet still achieve greater levels of power with a torque capacity up to 250Nm.

VW Group Technology - 7 Speed DSG - Simply Clever - Å*koda Australia

Here's another link to VW.

TO THE POINT: THE 7-SPEED DSG

San9jay, I would not recommend you to re-chip or modify the engine at any cost. The petrol version should only be run stock.

Besides the DSG issue, the car anyways needs 95 ron fuel to perform at optimum levels.

I would suggest better fuel instead of messing with the engine.

Cheers.

A.K,

Thanks for the links, definitely food for thought. The VW site does say 250Nm is max torque that is used with the DSG but strangely also says that 300 PS is the max power of the engines mated to the DSG.

If the 1.8 TSI has 160hp and 250 Nm then a 300PS engine is more than likely to have a higher torque figure.

One of those power figures must be wrong.

also why i think this box is the best in business which many european freind recomended me
u can read here
How it works
Connect the red wire to the battery Positive (+) terminal and the black wire to the battery Negative (-) terminal.
220160
The STEINBAUER Power enhancement modifies the boost pressure and injection quantity by fine tuning the firing point and
duration of the injectors. This is achieved by blue printing and interpreting original electronic signals. These signals are recorded
and recalculated to optimise boost pressure, ignition timing, injection characteristics and the control of actuators to optimise
performance.
To prevent the engine from damage the power enhancement starts from a certain engine temperature which is saved in the
characteristic. Furthermore the power enhancement is reduced or deactivated at the culmination of excessively high engine
temperatures.
this only box which have sensor of if some problems in tuning it will shut off
automatically and prevent engine damage

what i like most is that if u drive slow u can also slowy u press accelator slow
so actually they have tuned the car as original maker would have tunned
if u needed power press accelator down it goes like a rocket
but power delivery smooth so u can enjoy car more and more
next update i will put sebring exaust or muffler which already ordered

Thanks for getting the dyno done narry! Atleast now I can trust that buying this product will deliver what's promised.

What octane fuel do you fill her up with? What was your 0 to 100km/hr timing now? Any drop in FE?

hi
there no doubt that steinbauer is proffesinal company but is expensive compared to normal tuning boxes
well in china i use normal 97 and 98 mostly i use 97
i normaly use shell petrol pump much better
for FE i think is same not much diffrence but the good thing about this box is
u can control the FE depends on u driving style for example
the car have 6 speed manuel gear box i can put in first gear take speed on 2 until 80kmp and this shift to 5 gear direct
with this method i get better fuel economy . but again depends more on u drving style thats the reason i like this box is had tuned the engine as a factory would do this best also i needed a tuning box for ROAD use not for racing my idea OF TUNING is i want tune the car so is more comfortable for road use that my idea of tuning and with increase in torque i keep enjoying driving this car also 0 to 100km time i have no checked because this is not important to me
u see i have put koni fsd shocks with stock spring because it increase comfort in the ride this important to me
also future mods sebring exaust toyo t1 r tires
and tarox g88 rotors
regards

secound only box were i can switch on and off the power mode if i needed power in can on the tuning box and if needed stock i simply off it there a switch given this control i needed
