Story starts sometime in january this year(2009)

The cat is finally out of the bag.

The Car sounded nice. Not loud, almost stock in volume,except for a new bassy note that was more pronounced when the car was accelerating in gear.
car revved beautifully and i was redlining it in 4th to around 160kmph.

Finally a good sounding "oil burner" eh.. ?
Where do you find the road to do 160Km/hr ?

Still testing these. Its easy- plug in Peter's laptop- chose the appropriate file and voila-5 minutes later, "Here's your extra BHPEEEEE!"

So now its like "Fast and the Furious" is-style ?
You know punching a few keys on the lappy before you Vroom off

the last 10kmph crawl from 90-100 takes a silly 4 secs on the tuning box. and even though it is halved by the remap, it is still a very silly 2 secs to climb10kmph from 90-100.

This is seriously impressive. Agreed 2 sec is a bit too much, but its down from 4 to 2 sec.

removal of the EGR system. Not really a performance mod, mainly just to keep the intake side of the engine clean.

From what I've read so far EGR in a diesel is supposed to be good than bad.
I'm not an expert.

I would say the opposite works for me. The getz doesn't handle as bad actually, if you know how to push that car into corners. One needs to adjust their driving style a bit, thats it.

@ mclaren1885 Its OT, I know. Are you saying you like a car with a softer suspension on a twisty road ?

I agree the swift handles much better, but IMO that car hardly accelerates into corners to begin with. Atleast that is my take from driving the Getz & Swift to Nandi Hills almost every weekend. I remember someone shooting a video of our Nandi Hill climb in the Getz. Lot of people will be surprised with the speeds that car could do around corners. Let me find out who has the video and upload it. I also have a comparo video in my swift.

EDIT : I'm just curious, its not for any swift or getz bashing.

Personally I don't like the getz and love swift.

currently running stock clutch. Dont expect it to last beyond 10k.
no clutch upgrades are available for this car/engine.

No! Its the combination of finding the right balance between understeer & oversteer and manipulating the entry/exit lines along with that deadly A pedal that releases some insane torques with some controlled sideways action .

At present I think the videos are with Shyamcrdi. Shall take it from him this weekend.

Personally I don't like the getz and love swift.

Very true! Doc is lucky to have the best swift one can get his hands on in India. Doc, how about an exchange with my modded Vdi with your stock one ?

Had been itching to ask but resisted, finally you did ! Would love to know what Ripper has to say

That excuse worked for a while.
then it became difficult to explain why the car was getting faster and faster after each "filter cleaning visit" and why I was "cleaning the filter" so frequently at peter's place.
When that Supersprint endcan was noticed, I had to own up and confess.
I was in the doghouse for a few days, but its all good now

Then the alloys went on, and the rotors became visible, and i had to explain that.
last week, I had to explain why I was taking corners faster than usual(bilsteins)
So, right now, I have nothing to hide.

EDIT- I have not had to explain the alloys yet.

Have you upgraded the brake rotors in the front and back both?
Using stock brake pads or Tarox brake pads also?
And is the brake set the same size or uprated?

Fantastic car.

Most of the mods done here by the really good people rarely get such a detailed write up and that is one of my major complaints. Some of the fastest cars on this forum are top secret. Mere mortals like me have no idea what is possible and what is not.

I really appreciate the details given in your post.

Also, I think your car is begging for Advan Neovas!

this is not a complaint. this is just to inform everyone that modding, even if its pleasant experience like mine has its downsides, however minor.

The last set of SGP brake pads which cost 3700, performed well, but lasted only 7k kilometers. Ouch!
I've been pretty heavy on the accelerator pedal, and that translates to several times more hard work for the brake pedal.

The OE clutch which took a lot of abuse(35k of hard launches), had to be changed after the basic remap. It was just not upto the task. Even now, with the brand new clutch, I dont expect much. The engine is asking a lot out of that clutch and I'm glad its providing whatever it is at the moment.

mileage is an admirable 16kmpl still if driven decently(not slow, decent)
but on a full throttle ghat run, I can see the fuel needle drop as the altitude and distance climbs.

I have to run synthetic now.The trusted Delvac MX will not be able to take the heat,pressures and revs like the OWS. That works out expensive(compared to the ultra economical delvac)

Everytime I have an incident(not accident) on the road, a corner taken slightly faster/an seemingly impossible overtaking maneuver pulled off while grinning/braking hard etc- I get blamed for arrogance by my wife. And peter gets cursed.


@abhinav- stock pads. tarox pads for the swift dont fit the indian version

195 section neovas on the next change. right now, I'm busy wearing out the S drives as quick as I can.

I hope you did all this on a track and not on public roads.
Nothing much can be done "sideways" on a FWD car IMO.

195 AD-07's are going to be an overkill on your car and will slow you down. Knowing your driving style, I would suggest stick to PP2's.
