replacing silencer of my Accent

Hi,

My Hyundai Accent silencer has got rusted and needs a replacement.

There are two options:
Get it replaced from Hyundai - Cost Rs 8500
Buy the silencer from JC Road, Bangalore and get it replaced by a local mechanic - Cost Rs 1200 + 300 (silencer cost + labour charges).

I am not sure how the local silencer would be and how adversely it will affect the fuel efficiency and noise of the car. Is it recommended to do this? Or its advisable to just go with Hyundai?

Thanks,
Nirav.

Why not get the OE silencer and get it installed by your mechanic? IMO 8.5k is expensive.

nirav , I suggest that you get the aftermarket end can/silencer from a local store than going to hyndai. If you are keen on spending 8500, get a Free flow setup made and the end can could be made completely silent.

If you don't fancy the idea of a FFE, then an aftermarket silencer should do the trick for around 2k tops.

Nirav, I would suggest you to go for the after market silencer considering the huge price difference from the OE silencer. Also get anti-rust treatment done on that silencer before installing it.

Thanks guys for the reply.

But i have a few questions:
From where do you get and OE silencer since whatever I saw in the shops were all locally made.
Also if I get a locally made installed, wont it have an adverse impact on FE and noise?

Thanks,
Nirav.
