flames!

hey ive been really curious for quite sometime..i wanted to know that some suped up cars breath flames from the exhaust while the revs are really high..i always thought it was because of the nos that was sprayed in when the car was stationery..but friends tell me that its the works of a flame thrower installed in the exhaust..so...what gets you these flames?

Yes, it is quite possible and possible a DIY thing. Three of my friends have them on their car, in which two are proper kits and one is a DIY thing.Thought the DIY flames didnt come out very good because of the sensors problem.

Here are the videos of the accent and corsa sail running the Flame throwers!!!

Well the kit costs around 4.5k upwards. AFAIK, the flames can go as long as 20 feet. Pretty dangerous for people behind the car.

Hi, these "things" can be bought online & are relatively cheap - just Google or Yahoo for "flame-kits". From my understanding (at a very basic level) the way these things work is that they ensure unburnt fuel in the exhaust pipes & then ignite it.

Disrupting an engine's ignition gets you unburnt fuel in the exhaust, which is then lit by igniters (spark plugs) placed at the end of your tail-pipe. I think some kits even inject fuel (in very small amounts) directly in the exhaust before lighting it.

These things are for display purposes only - you'd be plenty mistaken if you're thinking you're going to get an afterburner like effect that thrusts you in your seat ! These things can be considered as mods only in a boyish, immature kind-of-way - your money is better spent elsewhere.

I have a couple lying around, which I picked up for myself and another friend. Then I grew up past the fascination.
