According to this picture it is a single coil ignition system. You can see the coil very clearly on the top right of the photograph. It is the black tube thing with the red wire cap on it. I have highlighted it in red.

It is a very simple DIY according to me.

yes and i couldnt see any waste spark disposal or passing on spark to any other cylinder on an alto. so i think i will go the shop ask him to connect just the power cable and the coil and crank the engine. if the RPM is correct then i shall buy.

You should do that. It will work if the gauge has a selector switch for a three cylinder engine.

Like you said just connect the coil signal wire as per the wiring diagram, the power wire to the battery positive and ground wire to any body earth point and start your car. You should see the RPM on the gauge.

finally i got an autogauge tacho with shift light and 7color display. and it was a simple installation. the tacho shows accurate RPM and it takes the signal from the negative terminal of the coil.
i have currently set the shift light at 3000 RPM. the bluish pink light with red illuminated needle looks awesome and now i am getting a nice feeling of the engine due to the RPM it shows.

Can someone tell me, what is the optimum RPM for alto to get maximum fuel efficiency?

One more thing i wanted to know is how do i shift without over revving? how do i judge the RPM at which i am overrevving?

Nice snaps, yogesh. Wished to see, more light over the tacho, to see it more clearly.
But overall nice set up.

Amit,
The tacho looks good. Colors are fancy, do you plan other gauges too ? Voltmeter and stuff ?
