ok guys, finally got a glowshift tacho for the alto, now i need some help regarding its installation.

Doubt:

The instruction says that the green wire should be connected to tacho signal. My doubt is, should it be connected to ECU or somewhere else such as the ignition coil?

Please throw some light.

finally u got the TACHO. the wiring diagram is somewhat wrong according to me. it says put the yellow to the positive of that battery.

connect as per my guidelines and it works perfect.

1. First disconnect your battery terminals.
2. Connect the Black wire to a suitable ground. there are many grounds in engine bay and dashboard.
3. Connect the Red wire to the ignition switch i.e on accessories mode. if you connect directly to the battery the tacho always remains on and the light in the tacho meter will always glow.
4. connect the GREEN(signal wire) to he negative of the ignition coil which is there in the engine bay. Please see the pics in earlier posts.
5. Connect the Yellow to the parking light signal. i.e when u put on the parking lights the backlights on the tacho glow.

Happy revving.

i hope this clears all your doubt.

P.S - My mechanic was very clever enough not to slice a single wire. he got all the connections from the fuse box under the dashboard on the drivers side. i was very happy with his technique.

please check the circled red screw. this is negative of the coil. i will try to post the pics. but the thing is even i havent seen the connections below the dash. the mechanic showed great patience by lying on his back and going deep inside the dash.

No holes were drilled, the electrician stuck it to the dashboard using some good double sided tape, it is really strong.

Tacho really looks cool, I guess the same can be fitted in a M800? Am I correct? Please do let me know. Also, the procedure would ne the same.

Any gusses where to get this tacho in Chandigarh and how much wud it cost?

Also badboyscad, Does this tacho mentions that it is built for a 3 cylinder engine? Or it simply gets fixed on any number of cylinders i.e 4,6,8 ???

After going thru all these posts I have started to die to get 2 of them, one for my M800 and other one for my Alto.

I guess it can be fitted to the 800 too, because both are 3 cylinder engines.

what is the size of the tacho?
If the size is 3 1/2 inch, and without shift light, then it costly.
General price range for tacho of same size with shift light and seven color display would cost you in the range of 2100-2400
