Re: Tachometers

An urgent help.
I recently brought an Autogauge 2 in 1 digital Voltmeter+RPM meter.
Need to install this in my CIVIC. When connected, Voltmeter works fine.
Though I already have a stock RPM meter in a CIVIC, but I want this Autoguage unit to be installed seperately which looks cool too (Digital RPM ;-) )
Has anybody installed an addon tachometer in CIVIC ?
Now from the gauge where do I have to clip the RPM wire into ? Where in distributor ? Or does the RPM singal come from ECU ? How easy is it to install an RPM meter.

Can be done in this way, BUTTTT.........
I don't want to open my dashboard and tap the wire which is for RPM meter in the dashboard.

This is how the Gauge looks

Re: Tachometers

^^ Find out the RPM signal output from ECU and connect with that. Or open up the console and hook a wire in parallel with the existing Tachometer.

As mentioned earlier,
I don't want to open my dashboard .
Does anybody has the R18 Civic ECU wiring diagram. Don't know which pin# to tap for the Tacho.

When I bought my car I was also thinking of going for a LDi and fit Tacho from VDi, this should not be a problem. But I do not know the cost of the Tacho and labour charges involves. I would suggest get a ScanGauge II instead for Ritz LDi. You'll get much more than a tacho.. Think about this!

Re: Tachometers

You can buy it from Amazon too. Although you will need a Aramex Shop and Ship type account. Buy the Scangauge E for 95$ from Amazon.
Amazon.com: ScanGaugeE Compact Multifunction Trip Computer with Customizable Real-Time Fuel Economy Digital Gauges: Automotive

You will need to pay 10$ for shipping to India through Aramex Shop and Ship. If you are lucky Customs duty will be Nil else it will be 15%.

Shop and Ship :: Home

You will connect it to the OBDII socket.

Oh wait - there is a better and cheaper alternative.

UltraGauge Automotive Information Center and OBDII Scan Tool

Buy this - much cheaper but almost similar in functionality to SGII.

You can buy used SGII from ebay USA too:
