Tuning workshops in Kerala

Which are the Top tuning workshops in Kerala? Please mention the district/location as well as what vehicles they specialise in, and any contact details if available.

The only reliable one I know/heard of is Pete's one at Cochin. Next best would be people at Kovai

jkdas, i know Pete's, they're the best ive seen so far but they mostly do diesel turbo engines, Skodas and German cars (please correct me if i'm wrong). There must be some reliable place like Pete's for Japanese and American petrol rides.

foby.sebastian, please mention both - for rally and custom tune for daily purpose.

Cheers

I had seen Mr. John of central motors (ford johny) doing tuning work in the local rallies conducted around thrisur.

But I do not think so that is the professional way of tuning.

AFAIK Kurian is only into bodykits and basic stuff like FFE, CAI etc

There was talk about a HKS store coming up in EKM, is it up yet?

Mithun, I'm trying to compile a list of good performance upgrade workshops in Kerala.

W/shops can be specialists in different makes for engine mods, brakes, suspension etc

With this list and possibly with the w/shops addresses, we'd be better informed about whom to consult for any specific car/ performance upgrade.

Back in India now... and I'm driving my almost miserable Ikon again - slow and bumpy as ever. Cancelled my plans of selling it for a new ride since I'm not gonna get much from a '04 model.

I keep dreaming about the 997 carrera S - one of the most reasonably priced and well performing sports cars in India. Investing on such a ride is a waste.. since these cars get phased out too soon and I get bored with cars too soon.. I'm thinking, why invest on such a ride when you can mod sedans and make them exciting for a fraction of the price?

For me, 400 - 600 bhp cars that reach 100 in 4 secs seconds is becoming boring, I guess im too used to them. So imagine my plight with a sub 100 bhp Ikon.

I know there are limitations to modding the Ikon, but I want to get the max off it, and I want it to be reliable and not overkill.

Now, I failed to find a good tuner in Kerala. Currently in Coimbatore, searching for a good workshop..

I did an online search and these are the tuners i've found in India...

N1 engineering (Mumbai)
Red Rooster Performance (Bangalore)

Anyone have any experience with these tuners? Any other garages I should look out for?

Its tough to tune a american cars, replacement parts are expensive and rare, thats why tuners prefer jap cars. BTW is you ikon 1.3 or 1.6? are mechanicals in order?

Its a 1.3, and I'd really enjoy a DIY job, but time is a limitation

Mechanicals are generally fine.. some engine jittering at low rpms. Thinking of replacing the ignition coil... gotta check the fuel pump (which i replaced once) and spark plugs. I'd changed the fan motor yesterday and the engine seems smoother now.

Other problems with the car are its suspension, brakes, exhausts etc..., which needs modification.

If you are used to 400 bhp cars why didn't you just bring one from abroad when you came? I don't think there's much hope for the ikon 1.3 in terms of modding. A few things that came to my mind, these can be implemented if budget and fuel efficiency is not a problem

1. cold air intake from kn
2. free flow with headers
3. Ecu flash ( pete is known for this i guess)
4. you could replace the pistons, camshaft etc but these are heavy jobs
5. you can rebore the engine to 1.5l it will produce more power.

All this could cost you around a lakh, i'm not sure though.

In bangalore Frk racing, red rooster racing, raj hingorani etc are pretty good at modifying cars provided you tell them exactly what you want and are willing to let the cash flow. All the best and do let me know of future developments.
