but i am facing problem with the Honda city that the door-lock remote is not working after installing the sun-film. anyone faced such a problem?
the prices are good - but I don't understand why you were charged more for the City?Material and labour are both the same in both cases.

Yes,as far as the remote goes,I think some water has seeped into your master motor.

Please check if the central locking operates using the key.If it doesn't then it is the master motor.

Hi Guys

I am getting a quote directly from 3M Pune (official distributor)

1.Premium

Crystalline Windshield+Crystalline on sides and rear.INR 19940+VAT

2.Executive

Crystalline Windshield+ RE 50 on sides and rear.INR 10475+VAT

I am in for the second option - are the prices good or I am being taken for a ride.

Appreciate the help.

It depends on grade of your cars. 3M has divided cars in 4 grades, A,B,C,D. For example the New Honda City (ANHC) comes under C grade, and bigger cars comes under 'D' Grade.

For a grade the price of different shades / Heat Rejection % remains same. For example in grade 'C' price of RE35 / RE50 / RE70 would be same, you can opt for any.

Price for 'C' Grade:
Crystalline Windshield should be CR70 which costs INR 5500 after discount.

RE35 / RE50 / RE70 --> INR 3500 or 3600

CR35 / CR50 --> INR 12500

So for you
1. Premium should be --> 5500 + 12500 = 18000 Max.

2. Executive --> 5500 + 3500 = 9000 Approx.

I recently got 3M series sun control films on my ANHC. I know that the following quotes are valid in Hyderabad. I went for the no 2 combination you mentioned.

1. 3M Crystalline Windshield(CR 70) on the front windscreen for Rs 5,200.00 inc. of all taxes (Can be bargained to go down to Rs 5,000.00).

2. 3M Executive RE series RE 50 on the sides and RE 70 on the rear windscreen costing Rs 3,600.00 inc. of all taxes. Note that the price remains the same no matter which shade you pick, so RE 35/ 50/ 70 would cost you the same.

The total cost for your 2nd option comes to Rs 8,800.00 inc. of taxes. I believe both the quotations given to you are fairly over-priced.

As @TheBeastFieast mentioned above, find out which grade you car will fall into and depending on that you can assume the costs to increase/ decrease marginally.

Best rate would be offered by Cars Automobiles on JC Road.

But I am not that sure of their installation quality.

I installed Ice Cool grand and Ice cool shield about 8 months back.The ICE cool Grand is very good.Perfect for the extreme heat in kerala.The performance of ICE Cool Shield is also good.The organo mettalic films has better heat rejection.So far no problem.There is warranty for 5 years.

For the detailed report please refer to the thread below.

Guys got the quote for the 3M films as below:

1. RE50/70 on 3 sides: 3500/-
2. CR 70 onfront: 6000/-

The Garware IceCool50 is comparable to 3M RE50 series. Any feedback on IceCool50? Is this IceCool Grand same as IceCool35/50/70 series?

That's a good price you've got for Pune. But still members from Chennai and Bangalore have got a quotation for 5200/- for CR 70 on front. Try to see if they come down to something around 5500/-, I have not been successful for far .

Please let me know where did you get the quotation from.

not sure that whether my query is relevant for this post or not ?
1. Here in North , Traffic cops object on all the type of Sun Films whether it is as per RTO standard or not. Generally ,they don't have any instrument to check the transparency. So they simply ask for some vitamin "M" or tear off some part of sun film .
2. recently I saw some white sheet like material pasted inside side glasses by one Taxi driver . When i inquire about is , he told me that it is called 'Chick'. It was removable and placed again (stick to the glass) by simply spraying some water on it. Can anybody tell more about it.

Installer's expertise is generally judged irrespective of the brands Abeer. It all depends on his experience with different kinds of films like Automotive, Architectural, Film's thickness etc. Brands do play a role as they conduct Training for these installers to use proper tools, proper methods to install films etc.
