Palio 1.2

Hi Guys...

I own a Palio 1.2L which rated power is 72bhp..;
I have even invested in K&N Universal Air filter. However i still feel my car`s
underpowered.
I have come across that there is a chip which is available for Palio`s 1.2
and the power output is 85bhp.
Is this chip available and approx what would the cost?
Then will my engine and my Transmission will take up the load of excess power.
Please guys i need your valuable comment and expert comments

Thanks ,
Anup

A chip on a N/A car so without turbo will mostly give you about 5-10 bhp more..
This will move your revlimiter a little higher, and will set the ignition?a little earlyer..

When you've got a turbo car, your car can gain up to 50/60 hp.

An open air filter mostly gives you MAX 5 hp extra, in combination with the right exhaust system.

most of the figures the brand will give you are extreme maximums, most of the times you will never get that much power..
what they all WILL do, they make your car feel more lively, quicker on the gas, and it will respond better..
BHP are only figures, the feeling you have while driving it, is also important, and that is what you do with this kind of stuff

by the way, here in holland the suzuki baleno's cannot be chipped,
there is a processor instead of a chip..

so that might be a problem for you baleno guys..

the best option should be a piggyback or standalone(like adaptronic or something)

Can a Swift's ECU be chipped? I basically only want the rev limiter to be removed and during a cold start the ECU pushes the RPM up to 2000 rpm which I want to be decreased to about 1000-1200. Also the idling rpm reduced from the current 900 to about 750.

regards
Vikram

Palio_Anup,
Unbelievable! Buddy, my name is Anup. I drive a Palio 1.2. And I just got a universal (stock replacement?) K&N filter installed. Only, I'm from Kochi. Don't tell me your Palio is Silver. Mine is.

Re: Chip Tuning ..

Hi all,

I recently bought a racechip for my car, a BMW 318 (e90) (I live in Germany). I bought this after understanding what exactly these chips do. I do engine calibration here for JLR and hence knew exacting what I was getting into before purchasing one of these.

Here is what I notice:
1) There is a noticeable increase in power (but only upto a point, arnd 160 kmph in my case).
2) The fuel efficiency is actually better in steady state (havent checked it over city profiles yet)

The chip only fools the ECU into reading higher sensor values from what I understand. There seems to be no downside in terms of the engine durabilty, keeping in mind that your emissions might go for a toss! Beware if you have any emission certification that you might have to pass!

I am actually buying one of these from here to gift to a cousin! I will be coming to India for a month (Dec 8th to Jan 6th) If anyone else needs one, let me know, I can try getting one more maybe!

Cheers!
