re: My Turbo charged Baleno - now 116 whp @ 6psi Edit:145whp at 11 psi!

Got the car dynoed in last week while I was in town, Got a healthy 116WHP at 6 Pounds of boost. According to Kayan at Red Rooster, they estimate losses at 26%.

Overall Im satisfied, car has been running reliably for the last year , it now runs a IHI VI-21 Turbo instead of the Toyota Ct-12 which we got rid of.

I had a figure of 120 whp @ 11psi in my head when i took the car to be dynoed so 116 @ 6psi has beaten all expectations!

hey Binz, did a check on the turbo youre running.
according to RD Chinnoy its a diesel turbo and it wouldnt last too long on a petrol car.
your comments?
and hey what car does it normally come on?

I've read that post about the VI-21 on one of the forums..

All I want to say is vikram_d ran a VI-21 for more that 40k km on his swift, drove it to leh and back with absolutely no problems, the same turbo was bought by by another beleno owner in blr who ran it on his car with no issues till he took it off when he got married.

Another VI-21 was used on alias's tc baleno and the turbo had no problems, same turbo was picked up by another member on tbhp and used on his friends esteem for quite a bit , and was then further used by someone else for a project!

Not to mention that the turbo on my car has run without issues for more than a year now. If and when it conks off, its not going to be expensive to replace and that's if I don't go in for a brand new one.

I know its off an isuzu diesel, not too sure what..

@amey, thanks .. It hits 6pounds at 3500~ rpm.

Small correction. I did more than 75,000 kms on that turbo, including my trip to Leh. Not a single problem. Sad the dyno was not up and running during my turbo days.

Excellent figures 116whp. Congrats dude.

For some reason the 40k figure was in my head, sorry!
75000km is very impressive and I didn't know that.
