Bad rear bumper dent, needs fixing in Cochin

This really unfortunate thing happened yesterday. I was reversing my Fiesta in an open ground, and I hit a pedestal (which I didnt see until I hit it). I should have been more careful, I guess. I was reversing at quite a high speed, assuming that the ground is totally empty. This has dented the rear bumper rather badly. The dent is on the right hand side of the rear bumper and about 10 inch section of the bumper has caved in. The bumper doesnt have any tear in it. However, some paint has been scraped off.

All this has happened while I am in Cochin (where I will be for the next one month). I am hoping to get it fixed in Cochin itself. I am considering various options

1. Take to Kairali Ford (this would probably turn out to be expensive)
2. Take it to local tinkering place (dont know any -- would really welcome any suggestions regarding good place to do this in Cochin)
3. Whether to claim insurance for this or not.
4. Anybody can tell me how much this would cost (a) without repainting (b) with repainting
5. Can I ask a local tinkering guy to repaint the bumper, after he fixes the dent? Would he be able to get the same paint quality?
6. I have been told that there is a CARNATION service center in Cochin. So, that would be a good place to get this work done, I guess. Anybody has prior experience of going to them?

Looking forward to help, suggestions, etc.

Since it is just a dent in the bumper, a local garage can push it out.
Paint jobs are best left to A.S.S. If it is not major, avoid it, as small scratches happen everyday on the bumpers.

Hi Pyso,

I'm sure you can find a good workshop in Kochi. Last week, I had flown in to that part of the country. While going from the airport to the city center, there was an entire block of automobile showrooms and service centers / workshops etc. Unfortunately, I can not name the locality as I'm not a local but you just go down the airport road and you find the area I'm talking about.

Regards

Paint shops in Trivandrum

Does any one know any good paint shops in Trivandrum-Kerala ? I have my 98' Contessa which is in desperate need of a good paint job and some rust removal too. Also how many days will it take to completely repaint the car approximately.I did my research on some workshops in my locality, but the sight of cars left out in the open yard (in the rain!) really had me worried. So somebody please point me in the right direction

Thanks Pramod.I called them up and their quote was 15K for a full body PU Coat(Not DuPont) and the tinkering extra. Is this a reasonable rate ?The guy on the phone seemed knowledgeable enough and said that he now had 3 denters and could finish the job in 10-15 days time, he also suggested me to go for a normal PU paint as imported DuPont will come around 30K for painting a Conti! Also I enquired with AutoEngineers TVM.Their price was 25K for the same PU coat !They said that it's not the paint but the putty work which costs more, also the guy seemed less interested. Now i'm really confused! Anyway i may take my conti to Venus guys for them to inspect and give an accurate estimate.Oh yeah i'll mention about you then .

Best of luck, i will talk to deepu/parmesh to take care of your car well, you can have further negotiations when they see the car, the best part is they dont compromise on quality or workmanship. My suggestion is to go for dupont if its a metallic color on your conti, if its a solid color go for PU paint.

Just park your car in the sun. The bumper will pop out. Or try a hair drier. And touch-up paint for the scratches.

Re: Body & paint shop - Coimbatore/Cochin

Hey Guys,

Bringing life into this thread after 10 years, Can someone guide me where I can have a good paint job done on my Rapid. It has a dent and a scratch on the left rear quarter running all the way to the bumper. I been carrying this for a couple of months and it is time to have a paint job done on it to nullify all its battle scars.

Hence could someone suggest me a good place in Coimbatore?

Note: I am based out of Bangalore will be in Coimbatore from October till end of January thanks to COVID-19 WFH plans.
