Looking good so far Amey! All the best for the build. Waiting for the car to take shape. A turbocharged Cedia engine in a Lancer is something I had dreamed about, but it never managed to take off. So will be very keen to see this done well
And since I'm in Mumbai now, I hope to see the end product in person!

Dear Amey,

Great going I did a DOHC conversion for my 4G15. Thats a brave effort. I wanted to to do the same but I wanted my car to remain legal you cant endorse a different engine here in Kerala. I am now looking for a brake upgrade as the car doesn't stop well. Did you source from RPW , Autralia or is it from someone else. Could you find out which rotor is being used Gallant etc... I really need to upgrade my brakes as its quite scary with stock. Will be watching the tread closely.

Regards

The guy who is working on my Lancer has recently got OE rotors machined. Basically grooving and cross drilling. He made a set for the swift which were tested on my car and its fantastic. Similarly another Bhpian has such rotors on his Sonata and Elantra and he too is happy.
If you are keen and ready to wait for some time, he is thinking of making a set for Lancer. Try that,if it serves your purpose, will be a much cheaper alternative than getting a complete upgrade.

Oh I can wait. I really need brakes there is no point having a fast car that wont stop. Its the only reason I sold my Palio S10. And now I have the same problem with the Lancer. But just a bit of confusion he tested the Swift rotors on your swift right not on your Lancer (just want to confirm that you cant use them on the Lancer)? So you are not going for the rear disc swap? Was it from RPW that you were planning to source?

Amey,

Just went through the entire thread over the last couple of days. Don't know how I missed this till now. Well, actually I do, I've not been logging in to team-bhp as often as I should :( You seem to have done an amazing job so far. If you don't mind, can I pop down the next time you visit Tune Up Plus and see the car? I couldn't meet you, Suhaas, Moral and co after our first meet at CCD, so it would be nice to catch up and compare notes on Petes, Green Storm, etc.

All the best and hope you can take me for a spin in the Lancer once it's done

Regards,
Amit.

Ofcourse we tested the Swift rotors on my Swift not on the Lancer. No, I will still be getting the brake kit for the Lancer, just slotted rotors isnt going to cut it in my case, atleast thats what I feel and common sense tells me.
No I wasnt going to source it from RPW.For that matter I havent sourced anything from RPW till date.I have another contact through whom I got most of my parts.
Apparently he happens to specialize in DOHC conversions for 4G93 and 4G94 engines along with 4G15.

A sample of his kits,

Yeah this is the same DOHC head I have on my 4G15. Could you ask him if the DOHC head is the same for the CEDIA's engine in which case I can retain the head (IF) I sell the car. Also are the headers 4-1. Whats the approx cost for those? Also for the rotors if you are getting them.

4G15 is a different family i.e 4G13,4G18,4G15 etc. and Cedia engine i.e 4G94 is a different family like 4G92,4G93 etc. So a 4G92 MIVEC head can be used on the 4G94 SOHC engine but unfortunately you cannot use the DOHC head from the 4G15 on 4G94.

These are different headers, he had quoted me around 22-28k shipped for SS Headers,

Which rotors ? If you are talking about the one in the pic i posted, then thats an OE Hyundai Elantra Rotor machined on a CNC machine to have those grooves and cross drilling. Similar thing was done for the Swift rotors I was talking about.

He (The guy working on my car, here) will be getting a set of OE rotors and machining them since even he also owns a lancer. Will test them on his Lancer.

The rotors you plan to get from Australia. If you can find out please find out if its from the Galant or the Ecipse one of them is a direct fit with 100PCD.

Update :

After months of waiting for parts and modifying stuff to fit,we managed to start the engine for the first time after nearly 4 months since this project started.
I can understand if its not a big deal for many but it surely is for me because I am not used to doing such projects.
Engine fired with new billet fuel rail, AEM adjustable FPR but with stock injectors. Currently the engine is in stock form. Will make her roadworthy first then a bit reliable and then proceed with the next set of modifications.
Tomorrow its time time for Radiator + Block water jacket flushing and refilling coolant, brake+clutch oil draining and refilling, fitting AC Compressor+PS Pump belt, etc.

Congrats Nothing can beat the first crankstart after months of work and preparations.

Get your wideband hooked up and record the AFRs with the stock ECU. I was asking about getting your ECU chipped because it will offer amazing datalogging which will prepare you when you get to work on the Megasquirt, more useful in your case since you don't have a basemap to start from. Even if you do find a basemap, it will be from a foreign car and tiny variations in the map can change how the car will run. I have ordered a Galletto which will probably read maps of your Mitsubishi's ECU (Will need the model number to confirm). If that is the case, I would insist that you take it for a few days, dump your stock ECU's map and check it out with something like WinOLS.

I will get the wideband working as soon as possible. I havent really ventured into chipping of stock ECU to be honest. Looks like I need to look into it.
Let's see how it goes, the base map for the standalone is gonna be a pain.

Always a special moment, eh . Congrats.

I may have missed it, but who / which garage is working on the car? The engine bay looks very clean...nearly OEM like.

Always a good idea. Best to take it one step at a time.

Once she has run in, you must get her dyno'ed. And again, after each modification to know just how much what has helped.
