I own the exact model and been there at the workshop last month for a routine maintenance.

During conversing with the mechanic, (who is pretty knowledgible and passionate about the cars and a lancer and VW specialist), I was surprised to know two fellow lancers' engine got seized and no spares were available in India, and he is importing two brand new turbocharged engines to fix them...

If you're interested, I could help with my mechanic's whereabouts. He is at Coimbatore though...
I am halfway through with my project so wont be needing an engine now, still thanks for the offer.

Got strut braces made for the car. Hope they work well

Initial observations -
The car feels far more composed round corners, very stable,no drama. So its safe to say that it has definitely made an improvement as far as handling goes. My shocks should arrive in a day or two, will be fun to see what improvement they make.

These should improve the handling substantially.Looking forward to trying out the adjustable damping thing, should be fun

Wow these new addons look interesting. As it is the Lancer had good handling, these should help it even better.

Kedar, the braces had made a noticeable difference and now these.I am sure these should improve things even more.

Thanks

It was very tough to decide whether to go for coilovers or shocks+springs combo.
Finally I decided to go for these since I wasnt making a car for the track and since these already have damping adjustment, they would help me in stiffening the suspension than stock for improved handling which is all I wanted.

Also if I wanted decent coilovers, they would have cost a bomb and comparatively these are much cheaper.

Lets hope I made the right decision.hehe

Update:
Just finished installing all 4 shock last night.Initial impressions are good. She feels much more stiffer, stronger, firmer, basically a lot more confidence inspiring. All I need now is new and better tyres and I think my handling is upto the mark.

More detailed impressions once I driver it a bit more.

Amey - You seem to be using them on stock springs right? One question, how is the ride? Im considering getting these for my Accord, because I think the stock shocks cannot handle my 17" rims too well.

I like the way your build is coming along. Slowly BUT surely. Totally hands on. One thing I have learnt from your build, if one has to go with DIY researching is key.

Even I had thought of putting Konis as they are surely VFM, but I was suggested the Teins & I went with that, as I do not understand technicalities too much.

I have seen people using coilovers just for the heck of coilovers, whether the power of the car demands it or not or simply to lower car height. Though in my case I was told it'd do much better than the Konis

Anyways great going Amey

Cheers

I'd also like to know what springs you're running.
I'm assuming some stock springs.

As of now using stock springs, will try them first,if I am happy, will retain them or else look for better options.
Will take some snaps tomorrow and post.

No, first goes the turbo, tuning, etc. and then the DOHC.
