With its roof off, its going to add to the car's weight...which inturn is going to affect its handling...HOW COULD ANY ONE JUST REMOVE THE ROOF OFF A CAR?????????

One word. WOW!

Since it's a body-on-frame construction, chopping the roof off will not affect handling to the extent that you guys think. Please remember, the chassis is a separate ladder frame, and it has been (hopefully) left untouched.

How does the weight of a car increase when you remove the roof?

Viper's right. Chopping off the roof wouldn't have made a drastic difference to the torsional rigidity.

Hello???
Saar, swalpa logic check maadi...I must see my doc if this is the case - he MUST allow me to eat (AND MORE IMPORTANTLY DRINK) more so that I can lose weight!

I was just thinking what a brilliant way to make the Safari lose its biggest disadvantage - WEIGHT !

Changes to a body in a body-on-frame construction shouldnt affect its rigidity. Losing height may even make the Safari roll less and handle sharper...

What worries me is SAFETY - there is no roll cage (okay he left a bit of the roof behind, but thats NOT a roll cage) and I'm not sure if the A Pillar has been strengthened. That windscreen is heavy, and without proper support I wonder how long it would be before he has a Safari without a windscreen, too.

Otherwise, I like it - should've sealed off the rear doors, though.

Why dont these guys get it? The only soft-top offroaders that work are the Land Rover Defender, the Gypsy, the Jeep and the Hummer.

Soft top on any other 4x4 looks ridiculous!!!!

Weight of the car increases usually when the roof is removed because the windscreen and other parts need to be strengthened properly which are previously supported by the roof and the pillar.

A convertible version of a car is usually heavier than its hardtop counterpart (coupe).

Hope I am right.

Obviously, not in this case. This is a home made job.
