Projectors Retrofitment in Tata Safari 2.2

Yesterday I completed my DIY Retro project of fitting Bi -Xenon HID Projectors in my Tata Safari.

I already had a HID Kit in my car. It is amazing when at lowbeam but not that good when put to Highs.

The components are as follows:

1. E55 BiXenon Projectors - 4500 (eBay)
2. Phillips 85122+ 4300K Bulbs - 4500 pair (eBay)
3. Hella Ballasts
4. RH/LH New Headlight assembly, 1800 each.
5. HeatGun
6. Silicon
7. LED Strip

Here are some photos. I will be getting the lights installed on car tomorrow. Actually I do not have tool to open the bigger size nuts of front bumper so could not install it today. Will get you the pics of installed-in-car by tomorrow

@Godfather, a few questions

Are the E55 a direct fit on the stock headlamp?
Is the HID Xenon a standard H4, or a D1S/ D2S?
The LED strip - is that for the "angel eyes", or for a running light a la Audi?

Can you post a detailed how-to please? I am wanting to try something like this, but the costs in India (~30k) is setting me off. What you have done is exactly what I want, so would be great if you post a step-by-step guide.

Great work. Would love to see them in action. Post the pics. Would be great if you could post a video showing it's cutoff and startup.

Great DIY there. I have been thinking of a similar setup for my Baleno. I found projectors along with HID (4300K) for 5500/- on ebay (shipped from AUS). I was not sure whether it is an easy DIY for a baleno headlight assembly, so backed off on the idea.

now that you have done it, i am again getting tempted !!

I will post the photos and videos as soon as i get them in my car.

@Phoenix: Are the E55 a direct fit on the stock headlamp?
No these are not direct fitment, You will have to cut the headlight reflector to accomodate the size of the projector and then will have to bolt it using screws.

Is the HID Xenon a standard H4, or a D1S/ D2S?

I was H4 conversion kit before, now I have only changed the Bulbs from Bi Xenon H4 to single beam D2S and plugged them using AMP to D2S Adaptors

The LED strip - is that for the "angel eyes", or for a running light a la Audi?
NO, I originally had the plan to keep the stock parking lights. But as I completed, there is very little space to accomodate the parking bulb. It has been covered by Bezel, moreover, the back side of the reflector assembly had to be trimmed out to again accomodate the projector.

If you see the last photo, there is a black lining, its actually a white/blue LED strip which will be working as parking light.

@Krishna: IF I got to know what you are saying, then I Will not opt for those light. I had initially thought for the same kit but after searching over internet, I did not opt for the bolt-on eBay projector HID Kit. I am happy for what I decided.

I had spend around 15k for the same setup. Which also included the cost of heatgun and dremel rotary tool.

Wow thats something unique, great going . i have not seen a projector in safari yet.

Even I was thinking the same thing for sometime now. It would be a great help if you describe step-by-step process what you have done.

Got into some trouble. The projector of Leftside is not fitting because of less space. As there is battery sheild behind it. so Have to modify the projector a bit with screws.

Rest I got a few pics of the LEDS only.

That projector looks nicely functional - unlike the ornamental ones in the Swift aftermarket setup. Looking forward to seeing the light throw pics.

Great DIY! But the projectors look kinda small, maybe coz of the vehicle size !! what size are they ? 2", 2.5" or 3" ?

Have you modded the projector for the bluish cutoff ?
