I thought its a glitch because it usually retails for around Rs. 800 per bulb. So 299 is definitely a steal.

Hi there,

Although I haven't seen or experienced the Ultinon LEDs in person, I have been keeping an eye on them through the internet and some international forums like candlepower or hidplanet and to be honest, I don't think they have any performance benefit over the halogens.

If you look at the pictures that people have posted, I actually think that there output is lesser than the halogens and the light output covers lesser of the area ahead. So, for me personally, I would much rather retrofit HIDs and projectors for a little more amount or simply stick with better halogen bulbs like the XV+ or NBU.

Regards!

Re: Philips Xtreme H4 60/55W headlamps - price

My first pair of H4 xtremevision 55/60W was in Feb 2013 and I paid around Rs 580 for a pair. Now a days the price for a pair has gone upto Rs 1400-1600. Why such a steep price hike even though the awareness and usage has gone significantly up?

Not sure about the price hike, but would also suggest, pls. try Osram Night-breaker, they are far better than xtremevision. Osram night-breaker low/high beam spread and throw is far superior. I've tried both, in my Sx4.

Re: Philips Xtreme H4 60/55W headlamps - price

I replaced my headlamps with Philips Xtreme Vision Plus in Dec 15. Today, the driver side normal beam has conked off. High beam is working fine. I think 1 year and 2 months is too short a life, for what they cost. In terms of time, I doubt if it may have even crossed 700 hours of working. I will need to consider other options now.
I am not too keen to have a relay and 100/90 setup. Still looking at legal 60/55 options.

This is surprising. I've been using these bulbs since 2008 on my Alto and 2012 on my Brio and both pairs lasted for about 4+ years with some long extensive night driving.

Looks like I may have got a lemon. But I have been using these high power bulbs for over 8 years now. Started with Philips xtreme power, xtreme vision and now xtreme vision plus. Every time, the bulbs last for max 1.5 to 2 years. Invariably the normal beam will conk off on one side and we would need to replace both bulbs since the existing version will not be available and a newer higher powered version would have come in circulation. Shorter life is one of the cons of these type of bulbs

I am using a pair since late 2012, so far no issues.
One reason to think is how much high/low switches you do during your driving; more high/low switches & faster flashes means lower life.

Any idea where I can source Osram Nightbreaker plus in HB3 9005 type for my Verna's projector headlights ? I keep hearing that a lot of the Philips Xtremevision bulbs available in the market are fakes.

Hi sir,

Philips has their distributor @ Minister Road. Please visit Solar Shade. I have purchased Phillips Xtreme Vision HB3 9005 bulbs for my Creta (Halogen Projectors). Price is ₹ 600 each.

Thanks Shenoy. You are not to be seen these days. I know Solar Shade, I had got Philips 90/100 for my i10 from there. By the way, is there a marked improvement in Creta lighting with Xtreme Vision. I guess both Verna and Creta have the same OEM set up

All good on my end Sir.

Regarding the lighting output, not much of a difference since it is just a 5W jump (OE is 60W and Phillips is a 65W).

Difference I could spot is the with the Phillips bulbs, the cut-off lines are a bit more sharper than the OEM Sylvania's.

Hi. Could you please explain why this is so? I do a lot of high-low switches and short flashes and it's been a year. Touchwood. However, I'd be curious to know why they would be detrimental.
