Re: Project M800 with F10A swap

After the Swift even the 800 was finally sent for body works. Now as this is a more or less of a toy car, The idea was to keep it functional and minimal of body enhancements or the looks, The car is a SPEED project and so shall it stay therefore the stock bumpers kept instead of a fancy body kit or over sized Tyres etc. Less show more GO!!

But then as crazy as some call me,apart from the paint job i thought of making it into a two door conversion without a major cut paste job. Hence the simple thought of getting the rear doors sealed. Once that job started with rear windows seemed out of place. The rear 3 piece glass when removed gave a very nice look but then the problem of replacing the glass. We tried sourcing acrylic sheet instead but there were limitations and that idea has to scrapped, Hence my friend said why not just a sheet metal. Thus we jumped with joy and being in the moment we finalized the idea and the work began.

Now when it came to the paint, The SLS GREY started looking a bit ambitious for such a small car. Hence the shade car was again taken a look at and the experts from the industry (couple of my friends..lol) were called in giving their "valuable" opinion and so the ruckus started creating confusion. From RED,YELLOW,ORANGE,BLUE suggestion to go as wild as SLIME GREEN came in. Keeping the other factors in mind like "Price" "Capability of the painter"and the fact that matching the dream color in-case of an accident will be a pain as the car is intended for rough usage. So we decided to stick to OE shade card and choose a color. We surfed,we google'd for two days thinking what would be the best combo but we got NOTHING!!.

After the "DAKAR RALLY CAR" inspired conversion ( its only to give our idea a NAME, we had no intention to match those cars, Later it was looking similar to them)".

I was sure of couple of things that the car had to be TWO tone paint and has to be rear window part leveled with the current body lines now as the NEWLY added metal would make it look like a cargo van if the car was in one color. We tried couple of samples as you can see, But finally we got brave and tried a combo that isn't in the book. More pictures to be poster later.

Re: Project M800 with F10A swap

Wouldnt it create blind spots when you are driving? and doesnt it make you claustrophobic driving in there? Maybe you should have found a way to retain the glass. Since you were anyways sealing the doors, maybe fibreglass in place of the doors would have made your car a lil bit more lighter and quicker.

Anyways would love to see the final pictures of this baby.

Well bling spot yes during but RVM can take care of that, Claustrophobic no it feels like having really dark tints. in the rear window. Being in delhi we are not that privileged to have people who can do fiberglass conversions of this level. Secondly fiberglass cannot withstand if some one bumps into the car. The sheet used should be lighter than glass and cost effective.

Re: Project M800 with F10A swap

Ouch, you can go in for a better finish.
and may be you could have sealed doors, and left the glass and installed a roll cage, that would have looked good IMHO.

Will RE-WORK on it later, As for the roll cage it has been refused, I have been told the body shell is too old to handle it. The steel has lost its strength and will need to replaced with a new shell.
