A fellow BHPian has "blackened" the roof of his Punto, by using a matte black vinyl. Linky (Sweet Taste Of Success).
From personal experiance, i can say, the vinyl doesnt affect the cooling or heating the insides of the car.
Thanks. Got all the details I wanted. Fixed an appointment as well with 3M guys for glossy black roof sticker & interior cleaning.

Ruchir, check on the 3M website. Also, call them up and check if they can deliver to your city.
If not, there are tons of such sheets available on Ebay. Simply search for Carbon Fiber vinyl or matte finish vinyl.
Once received, any competant Accessory shop guy can do the rest of the work.

Hope that helps.

Hi did you get ahead with your appointment?
How did it go?
I want my cars roof to be stuck with CF vinyl.
How much do they charge.
Can you post pics?

Thanks for the help.

No, I did not went ahead with that roof work. But did external polish & interior cleaning which costed me around Rs.6K.

+ New car smell (Interior)
+ All the stains (actually a lot) disappeared (Interior)
+ There were paint deposits, light blue in color on white surface though difficult to catch has disappeared (Exterior)
+ Shiny & soft exterior (Exterior)

- In some places the fabric has come out like cotton. Though very minimal, its not intact like in the new car. Might be due to cleaning heavy stains (Interior)
- No touch up work on deep scratches...if its outside garage, they will do the touch up & complete it with polish (Exterior)

Still in confusion on the roof work

Re: Cruze Roof - Paint it black, or apply film?

Hey guys, I have a doubt. Does applying a matte black vinyl (or any black in that case) on car's rooftop heat up the inside. Am planning to get it done for my red Punto Evo, but most people advise me not to do that for above reason. Is it true? Please advise. I live in Chennai by the way.

I had applied matte black vinyl on the roof of my previous car and i never faced any heating issue in the inside of the car, Also nowadays i see such vinyls applied on the roof on many cars, So i would say go ahead with it.

Thanks for your advice Tanveer. Now am wondering whether to do it on the roof or bonnet. Which one would look cooler?

Re: Cruze Roof - Paint it black, or apply film?

Hi guys...Need some advice. I have old gen Hyundai i20 pearl white. I am very much interested in getting my car's roof gloss black but I am confused whether to get it wrapped or painted. I am not worried about the resale value as I am not going to sell the car for at least 5 more years. Please help.

I would recommend going in for a wrap Akib. I wrapped the roof of my car more than a year ago and it is intact.

Thanks Fullrevs for ur prompt reply. Actually the kids in my complex are very mischievous. Once I had applied chrome window strips and they removed it within 24 hours.. This is the main reason I am open to painting the roof black.

Thankfully I have no kids at home and I own a SUV with no side-step for anyone to do an mischievous acts.

Hope there are not RTO forms to fill for changing the roof to another colour?
