Hi guys,

Two days back i got 90/100 Hallonix installed along with the relay in my NHC , havent driven much after it but i went for a test drive to check the impact of the new bulbs, after the drive i found the headlamps cover was very hot , too hot to touch even, is this the normal situation or there is something wrong..??
It seems like it will kinda melt if i go for a really long drive..!!!!

And one more thing is it necesarry to get the ceramic holders installed with the relay for 90/100, as i got the holders along with the relay kit only.

Raj

The heat is okay. 100/90 produces more heat.
As for holders, the holders which came with the relay kit should be okay.

Does installing a relay kit involve any splicing of stock wiring harness?

Not much, just at the switch level. The relay and wiring take all the load off the stock wiring.

hmm but that still gives the co. guys an opportunity to say warranty void i guess.
Has anyone tried building their own wiring harness which would plug into the stock connectors?

Yes it gives them the excuse.
As for own kit, thats not really possible.
What is a relay?
A relay is a device which takes current off a circuit.
Lets say you had 60Wx2 bulbs = 10A on stock wiring.
You put in 100W 100x2 = 200W
200W/12 = 16A
A 60% increase, which the stock wiring is not designed for.
So you fit a relay and bypass wiring, so that the load is taken off the main circuit, and the main circuit will only carry the light switch load.

To enable this you have to plug in the stock wiring to your relay. Now stock wiring normally terminates at the holders, so you can cut the stock wiring at the holders and plug it into the relay.
So even if you go DIY, you will still require cutting, unless the car comes with plug and play mechanism(Like for ICE)

Hi Guys, what is a good upgrade for cedia lights, without working on electricals. I find the stock lamps to be very dim and not very good even for city driving. I think they are 50/60.

Palio Stile 1.6 Lighting Mod

Hi,

I changed my 1.6's lighting to a higher watt. From the 55w to the Narva 90/100W. I was pretty worried about water seeping into the assembly once the job is done. But hey Fiat impressed me with a robust covering provided for protection. This cover clamps on just like your air filter cover, offering a tight fit.

That said I spent Rs.1000/- for 2 Narva bulbs (high beams only), relay and cable. Took about an hours time to finish the job.

Interestingly what I noticed was, on the left side Fiat had provided Osram 55w bulbs and on the right side it was Phillips 55w. Also all four lamps were H7. I dunno if my right suspension is MM and the left one is McPh LOL !!

That said I am in a fix now. I think that installer has reversed my wiring. Stile users need your HELP here. Which is the high beam lens and which is the low beam lens. When I switched on the low beam the light went in a straight line rather than spreading. Plus its brighter than before. Clue that the wiring has been reversed.

Thanks

meremortal, you paid about 300rs extra for bulbs.
As for high low beam, the outer lamps(towards the fenders) are low beams, while the lamps close to the grill are high beam.

1 Query - I have a Baleno - 04, Non levelling headlamps, Using 90/100 bulbs with a relay.
Changed the holders and bulbs couple of weeks back.
While driving, the lamps keep flickering from high beam to low beam.
What can be the problem ? how do I solve it ?

hey guys,

I need have get the headlamps of my NHC levelled. Hence I was also thinking to change my headlight bulbs as my old ones are not bright enough at night, especially during these rains. I wanted to know if i should go in for philips or Osram and which bulb in them.

Would getting the white light one damage my headlamp assembly?? I want good bright light, not those blue ones or anything. Would it be too expensive??

If anyone could suggest me a good place to purchase them in mumbai. I will be going tomorrow. Need to know urgently.

Could be faulty relay. The electician will have to take a look at it. go where you fixed the relay

If your aim is only the visibility go for the Philips rally 130/100 with good relays, should comes less than 1000K

I have put Narva 100/90, which is brighter than the stock, produces white light.

How much do these cost then? Also forgive me for my sin, but is it important to choose a 'kit' and branded relay ?

so is it 'topi pehna re' for me then?

Please enlighten me !
