Yea. Should not be a problem in most cases.

H8(35W),H11(55W),H16(19W) share the same base and are interchangeable. This is a boon especially for those cars with H16(Tata tiago/tigor are the ones i know) which allows for easy swapping of bulbs, especially the LEDs.

Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

Hi Guys,

I drive a Ford Endeavour and I am not very happy with the headlights.

I got the high beams (hb3) upgraded to Osram night breakers but the these didn't help much.

Since the low beams are HID, I don't know what options do I have there and I don't want to fiddle with the wires.

Is there any plug and play option available to upgrade the high beams to led's?

Your best bet will be Morimoto LEDs (get the 2.0 version of the "2 stroke" led model , which should have a decent light distribution and 50% higher light level.

I am using these LED's on my Ecosport high beam and i am very happy with them.

For the low beam you could go with Osram Xenarc Night Breaker Laser or Xenarc Night Breaker Unlimited. They should give you more light.

I also ordered LED's from Aliexpress for trial: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/NIGH...nsAbTest=ae803

I think that there are some space constraints in the bulb holder, as I was not able to slide these bulbs in.

Will check Osram's for low beam.

I had ordered similar bulbs too. They didn't go in the high beam holder. The ones with a fan have issues.

These LED's have copper fins for cooling that need to be spread out and can be easily slotted in.

Here is a video showing them in action and some images.

Thanks for sharing! Would you be willing to share where you got these and how much did they cost? Looking to get the same on my Laura TSi.

Thanks

I have ordered a pair of aftermarket 5000k Bi-led projectors for my ride after testing out Led pnp bulbs. The long wait to get them delivered to India is hard to bear.

Are you changing the fogs as well? Or only high/low?

Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

I recently got the Laura Ambiente trim which came with regular halogen projector lamps.

Without changing the headlamp unit, what are my options?
Can I use Osram Night Breakers or the Philip HID/ Extreme vision. Something that can be fitted using the same holder setup.

I already have LEDs in my fog lamps. They work very well to illuminate the sides of roads and the close area around car.

Depending on the space available inside the assembly where the bulb sits, you can decide between an upgraded halogen or LED's.

These days there are lot of LED's bulbs that are pretty compact to fit into the tight headlamp assemblies. You have to measure the length inside the assembly and then start looking for LED options that fit into the space. Most LED products on Aliexpress have dimensions specified. Go for LED's that do not have a external driver unit. That thing occupies quite a lot of space and will be difficult fit. You need to do some homework before you start looking at the options.

Don't go for Xtreme visions or Osram night Breaker halogen bulbs. You will not feel a perceptible difference with them. Your best bet is to go for a HID kit for the low beam projectors and can opt for LED for high beam and fogs.

LED's don't work well with projectors, unless they are projectors designed for LED's. I have already tried LED's on my Ecosport which come with halogen projectors and they are pathetic. They neither have a good beam pattern, nor are they as bright as in a reflector setup.

+1 to this. I tried all sorts of halogen bulbs, HIDs and LED Bulbs (from aliexpress) in my Fluidic Verna with OEM Halogen Projectors (these are bifocal-both low and high).

With Halogen - improvement was miniscule
With HID - repeated flashing meant the ballast went kaput twice and the left side bulb on the 3rd set.
With LED bulbs - this was the worst, halogens was better than this.

Finally put in pair of bi-led projectors and its a night and day difference. And I have one with a 5000k output. Perfect combination of performance and bling.
