TVS headlamps have one of the best reflector design in Indian market, resulting in a good spread and focus. I have observed this among all their scooters and bikes.
I couldn't verify with another Duro; these are hardly seen on the roads. Visually I don't see any deformation on the reflector. So indeed it may be a design flaw.

I can understand if Duro doesn't have a spread like Jupiter. But mine is focussing the light at one spot like a lens under the sun!

And that Jupiter's low beam cut off is much too high. You might want to get it lowered to about window line on the car in front.
I did not notice for a long time after buying because it was hardly driven at night and there was always enough street light on the roads. I started noticing this since last 2 - 3 years when I had to drive it in the dark, returning from dark remote industrial areas. Anyway, I have ordered a new headlamp assembly; let us see if it spreads the light properly.

I too noticed that the Jupiter's low beam cut off is high. But can it be lowered? I don't see any headlamp adjustment in the scooters.

Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

Hi All,

I have Creta 2020 SX(O) AT and I am trying to figure out possible upgrades for my LED high-beams or halogen fog lamps. I love my low beams and would like to retain them as is.

My issues with lighting have been captured here.

Issues:
1. Low light coverage on corners, Cornering lamps are sorely missed. (I hear even the new Palisade also does not get these but Venue, Verna and old Creta had them for sure)
  • What are my options for installing aftermarket cornering lamps. Dynamic ones that respond to steering wheel turns or even static ones that are always on.
  • Can I upgrade existing fog lamps to cornering fog lamps? Anything readily available?
  • Or convert existing fog lamps to projector fog lamps and direct them towards the sides of the car? Or add a new set of bulbs in addition to existing ones in the fogs for the same?
  • I would prefer them to be yellow'ish', but if only LED options are available, I would take that too.

2. My LED high-beams are all over the place. My understanding is that Halogens as high-beams are more effective than LEDs. Is there a way to convert my high beams to halogen projectors?

2nd one is very low priority, but I would like to really explore ways to solve the 1st one. Unfortunately, google search did not help me much here.

If in case it is an issue specific to my car, please let me know that too. I will take it up during my 1 year service.

Any conclusions from your search for LED headlight upgrades?

Thanks in advance.

You don't have much options as the fog lamp is not round shape to use the universal fog lamp projectors. Same with the tri led setup that does not allow any upgrades to it. One idea i can think if lighting on night drives is a big concern is to swap headlamp to the projector ones to lower variant and put a 55w HID in them. HIDs have great spread so wont need any cornering lamps as well. However first check with any creta owner with projector who has put in a HID. If the projector is not good quality then that needs to be replaced to a better one.

CNC cutting for switch panel?

The Gypsy dashboard has limited space for the switches and usb charging ports I plan to install and I want to mount it on a custom aluminium or powdercoated MS panel which I plan to mount in between the 4wd and regular gears.

Which is the best shop around East Bangalore where I can get a metal panel shaped to curve down at the edges (U legs at the sides) and precision cut rectangles and circles for the various switches?

The Sign board shops can cut it for you, I had to get a mount cut for my Fiesta's Projector fog lights and had went to one such shop, I wanted mine cut from steel and sign board had composite Aluminum sheet. However I think the composite AL sheet will serve your purpose, it is light and can bend to a certain degree. If you can make a CAD file, it will be a lot less hassle when you visit the shop.

Hi All,

I am planning to upgrade the head lights on my Honda City 3rd gen to 100/90w halogen bulbs with a decent relay kit.

Can members here advise on which brand of the relay kits below is the best quality available:
  1. Hella H4 Headlamp Wiring Harness Relay System
  2. UNO MINDA TD-2008 H4 Headlight Connector with Relay
  3. VAISHNU H4 Headlamp Wiring KIT for Cars | 65Amps/800W Relay | for 130/100 or 100/90 Watt H4 Bulbs
  4. Philips Rally H4 Headlight Bulb (130/100W, 2 Bulbs) and Philips 12003XM H4 Heavy Duty Relay Wiring Kit

The Philips one doesn't seem to be on sale anymore online (except with LRM automobiles ...a seller I don't know and I am not looking for 130/100w bulbs that it comes bundled with as of now). Also, there were reviews on Amazon that mention that the gauge of the wires were just enough for 100/90w bulbs.

The Vaishnu one seems to have the most positive reviews but I have a suspicion that quite a few of them are fake positive reviews. Is this a reputable brand in India (perhaps I have just never heard of them)?

Are there any other brands that I should consider? If the kit is available for online sale that would be great. Offline in a reputable store in Bengaluru works too.

I was initially thinking of going for Philips or Hella H4 Relay & Harness wiring kit but found this Vaishnu product on amazon. They seem to have all 4/5 review ratings which i was initially skeptical about and then I did some research about them.

Will update later on how it ages, overall performance after some usage.
@Viscosity, Any updates on the setup? I realize that you might not have put significant miles with the new setup but I am looking at the same combination for my Honda City.

There are definitely fake reviews on the Vaishnu harness. However, if the harness itself is of good quality for the price (it's actually more expensive than the Hella one) then I don't mind going ahead with the purchase.

Both HELLA and uno Minda are reputable companies and you should be fine with any of them.Look for ceramic holders.
For bulbs I would suggest original Phillips rally 100/90 should be great.
Keep us updated.

Right, so far I haven't used them much, have hardly done any night drives but they are working fine and haven't caused any drain on battery even when I didn't switch on the car for a period of 3-4 weeks. So not much tested but I haven't faced any issues either with them so far.

Regarding Vaishnu brand, I had the same query and I remember someone had mentioned in above posts that they are well known in heavy duty / transport vehicles segment and are now trying to enter private vehicles segment.

You can go with aozoom projector fog lamp setup. It does fits in the creta's foglamps. Or go with iph projector 2.5".
Upgrading to LED in foglamp is useless.

I use the harness with their aux lights and the build quality is just fine. The company appears to have ISO 9001:2015 certification and claims to be an OEM supplier historically that is now venturing into aftermarket products. I would recommend the wiring harness over a Chinese made one any day!

Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

Recently I had ordered both (Vaishu and Hella) from Amazon. Overall build quality and finish of Hella relay was significantly better than Vaishu. Connector pins were thin and flimsy in Vaishu relay and insulation tube also of low quality. I kept the Hella rekay and returned the Vaishu relay.

I had posted the pictures of low beam and high beam of my Mahindra Duro in the above post. It was like the concentrated spot of light seen under the lens held in the sunlight.

Changed the headlight today and it brought smiles to my face. You can compare the old headlight with the new one in the picture below. All these days I thought that the old headlight wasn't that bad; we come to know only when we buy a new one and compare.

To understand how happy I am, you need to see the pictures from the post quoted above. It was terrible.

I changed the headlight myself at home with my son to assist. I have also adjusted the headlight aim.

Thank you for all the help. I finally picked up the Hella 130/100w one from Amazon. Looks like an original piece and the build quality seems solid. I was actually surprised that it has two individual relays rated for 40A. Though the fuses seems to be rated for 30A. I am not sure how much would the current draw in my case but I guess it will be much lower than both these limits.

Now, I am just waiting for the Osram RallyEye 100/90w bulbs that I have ordered. Need to figure out the best way to install the harness and hopefully I will get a decent light output compared to what I have now.

Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

These are my headlights with the cheapest Osram Original 60/55 H4 bulbs. My reflectors are 19 years old and of a 25 year old design.

I upgraded with a relay kit with 4 micro relays and 4 fuses. 1 relay and 1 fuse for each beam so if a fuse blows, I will still have 1 working light. If there are only 2 relays, you will lose light on both sides.

The voltage at the headlights showed only 12V before and 13,2V after the upgrade.

This kit works like the original VW wiring where 1 fuse is used for each beam.
