Thanks for the response. The new bulb is not LED. It's halogen. I have a reflector set up for fog lamps so did not want to change to LEDs. That's why I was confused whether my wiring can handle such a difference in watts.

The visibility has also improved quite a lot as you can see from the pics below.

Though it costs Rs. 6900, it makes a considerable difference to the visibility and hence i think it is a worthy investment in the vehicle if it does give a life of 30,000 hours as is expected out of it.

Hey outdoorlover . I also have a 2016 Honda city and am looking to swap out the stock halogens after 8 years (idk how they survived that long) just saw your post and wanted to know how the osrams are performing now?

I was looking at these exact ones you have installed on Amazon for 4.5k , can you say they are worth it after your year+ of use?

Also was it easy or hard to DIY? I plan to change them myself but have never don’t it previously. Did you have to adjust/aim/align them before use to ensure proper through? If yes I would appreciate if you can make a comment on that.

Thanks in advance

Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

I need to get fog lights installed on my 6-month old Tata Punch. Two different ASS (at Bhubaneswar during 1st service and at Bangalore during 2nd service) have expressed their inability to install them, and directed me to local shops. I am seeking suggestions for a reliable accessories shop around the Sarjapur Road area. Any suggestions, please?

Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

Question for those that have switched to LED lights, what would happen if you tint the light housing a bit yellow (even if you have white LEDs), would it help with visibility as it would change the colour temprature by a little?
(Asking this because I'm curious)

I also have the Taigun GT plus and I agree that the headlights are not good enough for highway drives. The projector that comes with Taigun is sealed one and can’t be changed. Also any changes to the headlight would void the warranty.

So I would suggest you can upgrade the fog lights and this can give you some good throw but for the near distance. However I am quite happy after upgrading the fog lamps even on highwaysand would recommend to try that first. Here is the link from where I have ordered -

Select H8 in that option.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for sharing your input. Can you please share a video/photo of the new lights on the road?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

Hello Friends, I had recently got new fog lamps installed on our Baleno Delta. Imo, in case you would encounter lots of curves regularly, getting a pair of foglamps are a boon as they have such a wide spread. After looking at posts from BHPian Leoshashi Link 1 and BHPian procrj Link 2 (Brique - My Auburn Red Maruti-Suzuki XL6 (Alpha MT)). I wanted to install either Hella/Valeo ones and wasn't a fan of highly bright projector beams for fogs.

The Baleno has a projector headlight set-up, and so far i have found them to be sufficient enough. I bought mine from GP road, Chennai after getting to know that Valeo has their headquarters here and contacted their sales team for authorised dealers.

The stock bulbs on the Valeo's are H16 with 19W halogen. The seem to do their job pretty well for the time being and arent going to be changed soon. The beam pattern and light spread is what is impressive and makes this a worthy upgrade - Cost me 1500ish for fogs and 1800 for fitment with relay set and switch.

Looks from the front -

High beam and Fogs -

Fogs only - Notice how much of a difference these tiny 19W's can make against the projector's 55W in beam spread.

I had tried this on my motorcycle once. Since you are tinting it, there is a drop in the light output, along with a decrease in visibility. Yes the temperature changes, but didnt help much.

So, just better to get a lower temp LED (maybe a higher wattage chip) then?

Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

Hi everyone

I've recently bought a Fortuner and apart from the ride and lack of features being an Achille's heel, bad headlight throw is another point of concern for. Especially because I road trip extensively and some of those drives are at night, and having a bright throw of light, to see what is happening around you on Indian highways is essential.

Can someone help me reach an already existing thread to guide me on steps to improve Fortuner's light setup, without voiding the warranty?

Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

I made the mistake of getting LED headlights installed into my 2018 Honda Jazz. The stock halogens were extremely dull and this impulse buy was more driven by the salesmanship of the guy who was installing a new AV receiver on my car than prior research
The stoks lamps are Phillips H4 12342 12v 60/55w bulbs. The replacements are Moco branded 4300k 100W per headlight and the ampere rating on the box is 8.0A per headlight.

After the initial jubilation passed, I got concerned about installing an unresearched product in a suboptimal housing. Plus they cost 5k, so money was also a factor.
I checked the manual and found that the headlights have a 10A fuse each.

I took the car for a drive and the lighting seemed good, with a yellowish tinge. I also walked a bit away to see how it disperses and found that low beam does not spread too wide and affect other drivers. Maybe I should take pictures and post them here to get a better idea.

This is my concern. Can the wires handle 8A current draw? The stock ones would draw about 4A each. I am guessing the headlights draw power from the AC instead of the battery. Is that right? or will this setup affect the electricals on the short/long term?

There is a black box between the light fixture and the input, point, I am guessing it is a relay. There are no markings on the box except for the brand name.

Since they are led, the heat generated would be similar to less than 50W halogens so the housing should be on the long run. Is it right to assume?

attaching pics from the brand box and the black-box.

A 60-watt halogen lamp connected to a 12-volt system draws a current of 5 amps (using the formula P = V × I). A 100-watt LED, however, refers to its illumination equivalent to a 100-watt halogen lamp, but its actual power consumption is significantly lower. Since power (P) is reduced while voltage (V) remains constant, the current (I) drawn by the LED is also lower in theory. There is no reason for concern; otherwise, the fuse would have already blown.
