Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

I am expecting the pair of xtremevision 130% in couple of days , ordered them from powerbulbs . Ordered the first set a month back but after 20 days of waiting when I didn't receive them contacted powerbulbs and they told its lost in transit . They shipped one pair last week with tracking this time and free of cost . I am getting them for highbeam for my duster .

Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

Hi, I got the Philips xtreme vision +130 fitted on my Rapid.
Definitely not 130 % improvement, but, still I am ok with the focus and spread from the initial small drive, need to do a more comprehensive highway drive test, till that, will keep my verdict reserved.
Got it for Rs.850/- apiece,

Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

The light output from my Philips Essential Vision pair has dropped and is a bit orangish. Is this sign of impending bulb end of life?

Are you sure it is the bulb, or is it the reflectors responsible for the orange tint?

I am also looking for Aux lamps. Found some thing from the below website.
http://4x4offroad.in/lights.htm
I checked with the vendor, it cost around 33K for a pair.
Still looking out for more options.

you may find more details on auxiliary lamps in the below thread.

Any specific reason to go for HID? Else go for led, there are lot of options. In hid there is pro-comp 8" hid usually landed cost in India is 16 to 20k from amazon.

Hi Soumen,
Please do share some pictures of xtremevision 130%.
I am also planning to upgrade my duster's High beams. Currently my low beam is Osram HIDs (4300K).
It’s performing exceptionally well, except for heavy rains.

Howdy. Sorry to jump in. Last I got an upgrade to 100/90 (Philips Extreme vision, if i recall correctly), I paid about 2400, that's at the toyota dealer. They might be cheaper from the "automotive galli" that every town seems to have.

They do an excellent job of lighting up the road. So now, when I am on the highways in the rains, at night, I can see the road, despite the truck's coming on at high beam. Although, if you ask me, avoid night driving if you can.

And if possible, get those "driving lamps" - or fog lamps, as we know them in iIndia - the ones closest to the road, lower end of your bumper. The wide throw, though very close to the car, helps in judging how much you can get on the shoulder of the road before it gets dangerous. You'll need it on the narrower sections of the highways if you drive late night.

I bought P8 HID for the XUV 500. They look amazing in the night with the led eyebrows. Had used cheaper Chinese HID in my swift and was totally unsatisfied.

Yes,I was using a 6000K 35 watt HID inside a Hella Comet 550 which I had in my previous bike,an HH Karizma.

Feedback-Brilliant lighting,better than the 55w Halo.
Cons- Too much glare for the incoming traffic.

Thanks, Rakesh

I am Not looking for HID bulbs being used as replacement bulbs in existing lamps. I am asking about lamps with HID bulbs as a set from the manufacturer.

Reason: like in your case, the reflector was not designed for HID and hence the glare.
