If you are planning to get your headlight units opened anyway (for the cleanup operation), you may as well get retrofit projectors fitted inside your existing housings. You can get pretty good HID projectors from IPH and AES or feretrofit (like this https://feretrofit.com/products/mini-h1-7-0 ) put in 35/55W Hids in 4300k CCT. That will give you best results what you need. Typical kits for this cost in the range of 8-12k and you will need another 2k for the installation. To me this will be your best bet, but find the best possible installer who is an expert as doing this and please make sure he uses Butyl sealant and not silicone sealant to seal the headlight units!

You can go for the Osram H11 led bulbs - they are pretty good, but available only on 6000k colour temperature.

Hello lighting experts, could you please guide me to the best light upgrades for my Xuv700 MX(reflector setup)? I've narrowed it down to the options below, based on reading on team-bhp so far.*

1) Low beams: AUTOBAHN LED F5 G-XP3*
2) High beams: OSRAM NIGHT BREAKER LASER H7

Reasoning:
1) For highway use, I want to have halogens because LEDs might not do well in rain. During my last trip(2000 km), we were in heavy to moderate rain for 5 hours. I read that LEDs are not suitable for a rainy day.*
2) For city use, I want to have LEDs in low beams. Even if it rains, I can manage because of the low speeds in the city.

And one more question: How can we know how much wattage the internal wiring can take?

I am not sure how these "experts" come well recommended on this forum. I did my bit of research and found out that they sell only 5500k temperature LEDs and HIDs - and a conversation with the owner (the same number that you mentioned above) only led to a situation where a customer (me) is basically ignorant and does not know anything (even though I had been looking into quite a bit of lighting related stuff that are published online - and he rubbished everything online as a whole). Also, he promoted their FE-Retrofit HIDs more than anything and when I asked for Morimoto, he tried to ignore even though he is supposed to be a Bangalore dealer of Morimoto. That is when he simply said that he don't have any of my requirements in stock.

I read through some of the negative google reviews of this store and most of those reviews said that they are either expensive or the owner comes across with a splash of rudeness. Most of these review comments have been responded to by the owner in google and from the response the latter is confirmed obvious - even I faced it when I asked for Morimoto. The standard reply by the owner is that they are ridiculously expensive because of their after sales service. Cannot really comment on that because, the OSRAM HIDs sell at a max price of 10k in the market with a couple of years warranty while these guys sell some random FE-retrofit HIDs at a price for 15k and has only 1 year warranty - what kind of after sales service he gives after the warranty period - maybe some experienced members can shed some light on this. I call FE-retrofit random because of their webpage - it is simply poorly made website - and appears to be online just to influence gullible people into buying their lights. In one of the reply to the negative comments, the owner also claims that their company is certified by VLEDs from US/Canada etc. Even their signboard on their shop shows the brand VLEDs in many google images. I contacted one of those companies (VLEDs) in the US and was not surprised to hear that they do not endorse/certify their brands to anyone in India (see email screenshots).

According to their website, the FE-retrofit is an Indian brand - but I felt it is most likely cheaply made Chinese imported stuff, rebranded here in India as FE-retrofit. I couldn't find a particular location of their factory, apart from the installers in certain cities. So paying a premium is worth thinking twice. Nevertheless, I purchased through a friend of mine just to see if it is worth the money - and guess what? My premonitions came true - that this is indeed some cheaply made stuff - with so many inconsistencies in product descriptions within the box apart from poorly written / punctuated language. There is nothing premium in this brand and it would be foolish for anyone to spend their hard earned money on these stuff. Rather spend the money on the well established brands even though their rated outputs are in legal limits (read Morimoto or Osram). Reg. inconsistencies, for instance, the box said it is 5500k, while the manual inside says it is 6500k; 55W power consumption on the box and 40W inside the box; Lifespan 12000 hrs on the box and >30000 hrs in the manual - and more!

Following 3 images are from one FE-retrofit LED lights box. I am sure you can find much more inconsistencies.






My advice is: If any of you are going to the Automotive lighting experts, or any other installers who advice you to install FE-Retrofit - just stay away and stick to well-established brands. I feel that most of the customers here are those who want more wattage on paper and more brightness on the road. In fact, they are just spending a premium for something that may only cost less than 1/4th the quoted price. The Automotive Lighting Experts in Bangalore are actually using other brand names illegally - indicating that they aren't straightforward!

The headlights of my 2017 Brezza (initial version) is now in a pathetic condition. The light output is very poor, both low and high beams.
On top of that, there is moisture build up inside the dome, and it gets pretty bad in rainy/moist weather. Moisture buildup in version 1 Brezza's headlamp was a well known issue and I too faced it from the early days of ownership.

Now, I am looking for options to make it better, without spending too much on an expensive upgrade:
1) Remove moisture and improve sealing
2) Upgrade bulbs
3) If all other options are not going to help much, need suggestions on a reasonable upgrade

My Honda BR-V left fog lamps is broken and the right side has a crack. The OEM fog lamps are Rs.15,500 each + GST. I am not very keen to spend such high amount on just fog lamps. Other 3 inch OEM Fog lamps from Maruti, Mahindra does fit (with little alteration). But the cost is 3K for OEMs and at that price there are some very interesting projector housing available (without LED/HID) bulbs)

So I procured a pair of iPH Car Bi Xenon Projector Fog light housing (M612). these projector fog lamps will be used with halogen H8 bulbs (35W). I want to retain the OEM for the time being as BR-V comes with low beam projector headlights. I am planning to convert it to HID in future.

I am planning for DIY as I not keen on having high/low beam connectivity.

So, I have few questions before installation -

1. It is mandatory to connect the Red and Black wire. Red is for high beam and I don't intend to use high beam on fogs. But is it required to connect the black wire to negative?

2. What is the default setting - is it high or low beam on the projector fog lamps?

3. I just plugged in the OEM H8 and projector works. I made sure the red/black wire is towards the down and checked. One the fog seems to be in low beam and other one in high beam.

4. Can plug in 55W halogen bulbs into these projector lamp housing? will the heat cause any damages?

I have tried HID and Leds in projector low beams on my Grand Vitara.
My advice - just stick to halogens.
And replace your existing fogs with Bixenon 3" projector fog lamps.

Hi I haven't upgraded any headlights to projectors yet, only bumped up wattage to 100/90W. But Sainath has been recommended on the forums for projector retrofitting from the past few years

I just bought my HID's and IPH fog lights from blaze india and got it installed by him. He did a great job installing it at my home in my garage.

I've had a poor experience with the proprietor of Automotive lighting experts too - snobbish attitude with a false pretence of catering to the elite.
