@sunil

Your engine requires new piston rings and pistons and very careful run-in with first oil change at 500kms then at 1k and then at 2k and also the Job should be carried out with Perfection and torque used to tighten the bolts should be as specified in service manual.

You should ask your tuner to do a leakdown test first. Then use that to figure out whether the issue is with the block (rings or bore), head gasket, or head (valve guides or valve seals or both).

Hey Pranav, tell me about this leakdown test.
I would really want to define the root cause rather than overhauling the whole stuff

Thanks for the link buddy
In my initial post I had mentioned about the varying compression in the cylinders. This was infact done by doing a cranking test with a compression gauge as illustrated in the link.
The compression results from each of the cylinders were 140,200,170,210 psi
Presuming that the ideal compression is 210psi (correct me if wrong) the % variance would be 33,5,19,0%

https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...=leakdown+test

It gives you way more data compared to a simple compression test.

Yes the track day was good fun. Upgrades will start soon. I am just in a fix whether to do Turbo or make a NA which is fun to drive on the track. Since no drags are happening in my town I might just make a NA screamer out of it. Still lets see how it happens.

Car is being prepared for the 10th March now. New Brake pads have been ordered which should arrive by tomorrow, a retune, tweaking to the suspension and new tires should be good enough for this sunday. Let's see how the results are.

Cant wait to see this run rings around people again... Should be good fun playing with you on 10th. We did the same time 2.53 in the last session.
Now I've got coilvers as well :-)

Cheers and GREAT job on a very well built car. Its a TOTAL sleeper.

You have a brilliant high revving B16 motor. I'd honestly skip the turbo, and work on the NA part to extract more HP bit by bit, and lighten and stiffen the body.

B16s are high revving high compression motors, and turbos would just end up blowing the motor.

Why would turbo blow up the motor ?? Are you saying High compression engines cant be turbo charged ??

For my build, I have a set of brilliant forged low compression piston set for my engine. I dont see why I should fear a blown engine after turbo.

Yes, turbo charging a high compression engine like the B16 is asking for trouble.. In your case your planning to lower the compression ratio thru a different piston set, so in that case your good to go.

But in all honesty, the B16s were meant to be N.A. IF you want to go turbo, just get a 4G63 and put in as big a turbo as you want.. would actually be a cheaper swap than going thru all the trouble of modding an N.A motor to be a turbo motor. The long term risks of doing so are just too high.

Honda didnt make anything turbo till they got launched the RDX in US as an Acura.. and WHAT an Engine it was.. to bad it ended up in a MUV and not the Civic. BUT you can get these engines or just the turbos & manifold from these engines pretty easily.

K23A1
Turbocharged
Found in:
2007-2012 Acura RDX[2]
Displacement: 2,300 cc (140.4 cu in)
Compression: 8.8:1
Power: 240 hp (179 kW) @ 6000 rpm (SAE net)
Torque: 260 lb·ft (353 N·m) @ 4500 rpm (SAE net)
Redline: 6800 rpm
Bore: 86 mm
Stroke: 99 mm

THere is also rumors that the next gen of these may find its way into the new Civic Si.

Re: My Quest for a "FAST" car!! B16 Honda City

Long time no post so here's one...
Guys want a good mechanic sourced for my OHC B16A2. Its overhauled recently but still throws out white smoke at cold start and black on hard acceleration when warmed up. Smells unburnt fuel and the tip has wet black carbon buildup. I presume its rich AF ratio...maybe!
Would prefer a source in the western suburb since the car is in Goregaon.
Any suggestions/links!!??

Just saw this thread, thanks to the bump up by Sunil's question.

So what happened next? NA screamer? Turbo? Do tell us more
