Have anyone successfully installed rear seatbelts for old palio 1.6/S10?

I have a 2002 Palio S10 and i want to buy a child seat for my 1yr old daughter.
Have anybody successfully installed rear seatbelt in their old palio models(pre-stile)?.Does the S10 have the sufficient mounts to install the seatbelts without compromising on the safety?
Is there any child seat which can be fitted without seatbelts?
Please do help.

I have a 2002 palio 1.2ELX and from what ive seen, there seems to some provison for mouting the rear seat belts below the seat and on the C pillar (the small cap which covers the screw), all you need is the seat belt mechanism.

I guess rear seat belts came in the Palio 1.6 GTX from day 1. Can you post a picture of your rear seat + the plastic cladding on the inside of the C-Pillar?

Lift up the mat behind the rear seat and try to look just below where the two seats top and bottom meet , there should be mounts either 2 or 2+ center belt to attach the seat belts to the floor of the car . If there , great if no then some drilling involved and that is a risk as strength of the mounts will not be oem so no guarantee on safety.

Not yet. I am not able to find the rear seat belts of fiat palio in any of the shops in chennai.
One guy even has a FIAT Uno belt but not the palio ones.
Not sure what to do

Re: Have anyone successfully installed rear seatbelts for old palio 1.6/S10?

Hi,
I have a pre-NV, 2002 Palio 1.2 sports which came without rear seat belts. I had the same dilemma when i wanted to install a child seat in the rear. Had to spend months together to go to all the concorde service centers in bangalore , sit with them, go through their inventory system to identify which belt it was, and then the proverbial issue of "fiat parts not available". But some friends helped me escalate to Fiat mgmt, and a set was imported from outside India. Its made in Poland and finally i got it installed. No drilling/screwing etc, as there are provisions to install it already.Works as a charm and looks as if it was always there. I think I paid around 4500/- for the seat belt assembly and installation, around 1.5 years ago.

Thanks for replying.
Good to know that you got hold of company original rear seat belts.
I don't have any good contacts in FIAT service centres.
In chennai its not available.
Can it be procured from spare shop markets in Bombay or delhi?

Re: Have anyone successfully installed rear seatbelts for old palio 1.6/S10?

Hi Rock18.

I am not sure if you will get the right one's there. The purpose is defeated if you get something which is of dubious quality for seat belts. Its like installing pirated anti virus software

My suggestion is to first check with your local Tata dealer, and then keep hounding them on all possible email id's /phone numbers.

Try approaching the fiat club/palio club on yahoo groups. The guys there are pretty resourceful and helpful.
