Retrofitting Rear Defogger in i10

Is it possible to fit rear defogger in i10 Magna by Hyundai dealer ? How much will it cost ? Is it safe and advisable ?

You can try by replacing the glass. The wiring should already be there.

condor, are you sure the wiring will already be there? I'm sure the switches and the defogger controller also will need to be added

@Greenie, IMO the wiring will be part of the harness .. though a Hyundai electrician can confirm that. Switches - yes. But atleast it should not be as messy as adding a rear wiper (drilling into body, water piping etc).

OT:
I wish the Ikon had the feature. But no Ikon has it, and hence I am not able to explore this option further.

@condor: IIRC, the Swift needs new combination switches, some electrical wiring, some plumbing for the washer motor, new glass and some change to the ECU as well. Should be something similar for the i10.

BTW, for the Ikon, the older gen did come with demisters. (ZXi and SXi trims if am not wrong). Do check, as this would require less of work since there is no plumbing required.

Yes, the older IKON's had it. But I doubt if the wiring is a part of the new IKON's as no model after '06 has it.

I guess it is possible but you have to replace complete rear glass with one with demister lines, It will be little pricey than the normal glass. Consult Hyundai dealer to confirm more on this and also about warranty issues.

Well how important is your need for the defogger ? I am really not sure if the cost of replacing the entire glass and wiring worth it. AFAIK this can be achieved, you might want to speak to your service center guy for the actuals.

Guys, for cars that do not have an option for rear windshield de-fogger (like the Ikon), check this :

Frost Fighter 2600 Clear View Defrosters
