Valvoline synthetic is a good buy at about Rs 400 per litre ,made in USA. I have switched to this from Mobil 1 in both my Baleno and Verna and find the engine smoother. Fellow Tbhpian Quicksilver has also taken this oil and iam yet to hear his experience.

Castrol Magnatec rocks!

I used Castrol Magnetec for about 7000+kms in my car i must say it is much better then the regular mineral oil....

For both city and long drives its the BEST choice...would recommended it!!!

I am getting my engine oil change at 10000 kms for my Wagon R. Recommended grade is 20W40.

I am going for Synthetic? Does Mobil have this grade? or Castrol?

Can one use higher grade engine oil?

Johy, Dont worry about the grade!
you can go for Castrol Magnetec which is 10W-40 or sny synthetic which are bien discussed here...most of them are 5W-40

btw am running Idimitsu synthetic oil, which was provided in Honda authorised service center, have done above 1300kms till now and am liking it.

hi johy
20w40 is a mineral oil, whereas synthetic oil is manufactured in labs so costly
once use of syn oil it is recomended not to shift back to mineral oil

In a new car, how long should you wait to use Synthetic Oil ?
Can it be used during first oil change ?
Or should we give more time for the engine to run-in a bit before using Synthetic ?
