15W40 is the best mineral oil grade available for CRDIs.

Actually, 15W50 would be best suited for typical, tropical Indian Hot conditions.
But, we don't have a choice.
15W40 is as good as it gets with non-synthetic API-CI4 standard engine oil in India.

I don't think Servo has a product that is CH4+.
I would suggest you find the biggest oil distributor in ur area and source Castrol GTX diesel 15W40(API-CI4) or Mobil Delvac MX 15W40 (CI4)
Anna,

How about this oil ?

Castrol India - GTD

And this one

The servo oil that a couple of MASS' here are using is this: Servo PRide 40 which is API CF, EDL3, MACK T7

Which of these oils is better considering I can't find any Mobil dealers near my place.
Indian Oil Corporation :: Automotive Lubricating Oils

I am sorry but will keep bugging you for the next couple of days

Castrol GTX diesel is what's running in my Safari 2.2
Castrol GTD is API-CF4 and not recommended for a CRDI

Both are API-CI4 rated. I've used the GTX diesel twice and Im pretty satisfied with smoothness and the oil ageing. I can't give detailed reports since Im yet to find a facility which does UOA (Used Oil Analysis) and God knows how much it would cost.

I drive a Petra 1.6 in Bombay. During the last service, I changed to Mobil 1 0W40 grade oil. Many on the forum had warned about this oil being too thin for our tropical conditions and that there would be regular top ups required. So, I got a litre of additional oil for such an eventuality.

Thankfully, the oil level is unchanged to this date. I have driven about 5500 km since then mostly in heavy stop and go traffic, as well as a little on highways. So, perhaps, one need not be as worried about this oil evaporation as its been made out to be.

What is the meaning of 15 and 40 in 15W40?

Why 5W40 oil is costlier than 15W40?

Mobil Delvac : Is it Mineral or Synthetic

Getting a bit confused.

I have a local store here that is offering :
Mobil Delvac SAE 15W40
Meets API CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4 etc.

5 - litre can for Rs.1125/-

I thought this was normal mineral oil.

Now in other posts in this thread i seem to understand this is synthetic, however, they have mentioned Mobil Delvac Super 1300.

Are these two different oils ?

Can someone shed some light ?

Need to get an oil changed done on my TCIC Indica. its at 35000 on the odo. Do not plan to shift to synthetic. Plan to stick with mineral.

Tried Penzoil last time. Would like to try this Mobil Delvac one as it was highly recommended. Need to confirm if its suitable for my Indica turbo.
