Yes, I am personally using Shell Helix Ultra in my Swift Petrol. Same Grade - 15w50 can be used.
It cost me around 2700 for 4ltrs when i purchased. But now I guess the price is around 3500 for 4ltrs.

Yes you can use shell ultra helix for your swift. Costs 700 - 800 per litre.

Helix Ultra comes in 5W40, Helix Super is 15W40 which is not synthetic.

I think there is a communication gap between me and my mechanic. I had asked him to put Mobil1 5W-50 (fully synthetic) which, AFAIK, retails for about Rs 650+ per ltr (i.e. approx. 3k for 3.3 ltr+flush). However, he told me today morning that he has put Mobil xx-xx ( wasn't sure of the grade) but at a total cost of around Rs 800+. Hence I presume he has put mineral oil and not fully synthetic. What adds to the confusion is that I could not find 5W-50 grade in Mobil's mineral (convention) oil product range.

Will check in evening when I collect the car.

AFAIK, all mineral oil grades start with 10W40, 15W40, 15W50, etc..

Only synthetic come in 5W40 or 5W50.

Shell Helix Ultra used to come as a 15W50.
Its now been replaced with 5W40.

its some where in mid 2007 I guess.. will check and confirm the date

Its jan of 2007. by the way, no reply for my previous question yet. Does anyone have any idea if synthetic oil has any expiry/best before date? Nothing is mentioned in the can.
