The above link, plus this from JK's safari ownership thread confirms that the GTX diesel is indeed CH4.

changed to Shell Helix 20W 50

Got the oil changed on my Santro to Shell Helix 20W 50 (RED CAN), regular mineral oil. Just about a couple of days now, no immediate improvements or degradations observed. Paid about 750 (approx) I guess.

No engine flush used, as previous oil used was Hyundai Servo 20W 50.

Thanks,
Rajiv

Buy Mobile Delvac or Delo400. I have learnt on here that they are amongst the better engine oils (mineral) for diesel engines.

I wanted to use Delo400. Wrote an email to the marketing guy and got a response in a days time. They are delivering the oil at my home today

Edit: Just a couple of mins after I wrote the above, I got a call from the Chevron Distributor who was waiting outside with the bucket of oil. Got the 10l bucket for 2000 bucks !!

Guys, I need to shift over to synthetic oil now. The car has done about 20000kms. i know its late.

A dealer suggested that I go for AGIP. This will cost about 2900 for 3.5 liters.

Is this product recommended?

Also I spoke to a tech from M.A.S.S and he said that for engine flushing I need to put the engine oil flush and then drive the car for about 500 kms and then I can get the synthetic oil.

Is this the right procedure or can we just put the engine flush and then idle for sometime and change the engine oil?

It is never too late.

For flushing the engine you should not drive the car around. Just put the engine flush in the engine and let it idle for about 20 minutes. Every 5 minutes or so just hit the throttle a couple of times and then let it idle again. After 20 minutes, drain out the old engine oil. Replace the old oil filter with a new one and then fill in new oil. This is the procedure for most of the engine flushes that I have seen.

OR

The correct instructions for using a particular engine flush will also be given on the bottle. Just follow those instructions.

Damm, Forgot to check and buy Engine flush.

Suggestions please on how best to move from Mineral to Synth without the flush?

What instructions to the garage if he does not have flush (Other than changing the oil filter which is mandatory).

There is no specific recommended procedure for moving from Mineral to Synthetic. Only changing the filter is needed. Nothing else is mandatory.

Hyundai & Shell Oils

Hyundai India seems to have tied up with Shell for Oils. Was at pune service center last weekend, came to know about option for Shell Oils (Petrol & Diesel). Was pleased to see Shell, but not so pleased to see mineral oils.

So, hyundai owners can opt for Shell mineral Oils instead of usual Servo.

Dude...forget the brand but check the grade. The viscosity/grade is more important. It should be the mfrs recommended grades depending on ambient temps. Not sure about AGIP oils but Mobil 1 & Shell Helix Ultra are popular.
