The Denso is superior to Puralator hands down. Purolator is well, so-so, and will do in a pinch and if you want to spend less on the filter. The difference in construction quality is evident when you compare the two filters.

I've checked aftermarket replacements for my Altis and the only one that came close to the OEM Denso was the WIX filter which I purchased as a backup since DSK Toyota closed down in 2018-19. However, I still use only Denso and the TKM dealer (Shaw Toyota) is always made to replace it every year with the exception of 2021 due to Covid. Just close your eyes and go with Denso. Seriously.

Re: ARTICLE: Synthetic oil vs Mineral oil

Hello ,
Is anyone aware of SERVO, ACEA C2/C3 , 0W30 Engine oil ?

I could not find any info here.
https://iocl.com/automotive-lubricating-oils
Mails to IOCL technical & marketing team have landed on deaf ears.
HPCL replied in 3 hours by the way

Am a bit confused ,as per ACS the cost of ACEA 0W30 A3/B4 Turbo Pet and ACEA C2 0W30 is the same . 338 INR /L !
Any clarity on Engine oil used by Hyundai post BS6 ?
My invoice claims the P/N of oil is "NPNBSVI30IOCL" . Anyone with a Hyundai, BS6 Diesel powered car can provide the description of this P/N ?

Re: ARTICLE: Synthetic oil vs Mineral oil

Hyundai also has a shell oil with the c3 spec around the same rate, someone posted a pic of the shell can some pages back in this thread and it is semi synthetic

A full synthetic c3 is closer to 800-1000 rupees a litre so this is worth the money

Re: ARTICLE: Synthetic oil vs Mineral oil

Hserus,

Thank you for the quick reply .
Am more worried about the oil that has already been filled. As of now its from SERVO.
Any info on Servo ,ACEA ,C2 Ow30 Oil ?
I was told Hyundai uses same oil for BS6 turbo Petrol & Diesel engine. Is this true ?
I don't mind any oil as long as it fits ACEA C2 0W30 spec and doesn't damage my DPF.

Re: ARTICLE: Synthetic oil vs Mineral oil

Today I opened up my Toyota Corolla's engine valve cover to replace the valve cover gasket as it was leaking in the spark plug wells and also near the exhaust manifold.

I was blown away by how clean my car's engine is. The car is 19 years old with approx 80k kms and since my ownership I have always used Mobil1 fully synthetic oil (5w30 , 5w40). The engine is almost as clean as new. Adding pics.

For next oil change I will be using Amsoil signature 5W30.

Looks great for a 80k km car. Good quality oil and timely oil changes makes all the difference to an engine. Keep using synthetic it pays for itself over the long run.

Found it better than Mobil1 5w-30 ESP. Been with Amsoil Signature for the past 2-3 years and never regretted it. My new fav oil.

Few days back I replaced the engine oil with Amsoil signature 5W30 at 8.5k kms since last change.

The Amsoil so far looks great. The overall pickup appears to have marginally increased with fresh oil change.

Let's see how it holds up over time.

Also changed to Amsoil on my other car 2010 Civic and the difference in overall smoothness and engine noise was lot more prominent.

I belive both Amsoil and Mobil1 are neck to neck. Just pick one whichever you find cheaper. This time I found Amsoil cheaper at 3600 / gallon.

Is Mobil1 coming in 5W40? Whenever I have used it I got only 0W40 at my MASS.

Yes they do have 5W40. My previous oil was the same one. Its 3.5L and goes for sometimes as low as 1700 rs.

Search for Mobil1 FS X2 5W40.

Where did you get Amsoil Signature at 3600/can? Can you please share the link? I need to buy a can in advance for my car's next service.

It was on Amazon India from a particular seller. But its out of stock now. If I see it again, I'll share it with you. Right now Amsoil is overpriced on Amazon at 4000 rs.

Re: ARTICLE: Synthetic oil vs Mineral oil

I have been using Amsoil 5W40 in my 2014 Storme (approx 52K Kms run) from last 3 years and extremely happy. However, off late, the availability has become patchy and prices have gone north as with everything.

Is there any alternative which is easily available and bit easy on the pocket. My usage is 70% city, 30% highway and don't use for more than 6000-7500 kms a year.

Re: ARTICLE: Synthetic oil vs Mineral oil

My i20 1.0 liter turbo petrol is going in for 2nd service after one year and 8000 kms.
Manual states 15W 40 ACEA C2
However, going through Amazon I find only ACEA A3/B3 or A4/B4 available.

A3/B3
Stable, stay in grade oil intended for use in high performance petrol and diesel engines or extended drain intervals.

C2
Stable, stay in grade oil for use in vehicles fitted with DPFs & TWCs and in high performance diesel and petrol engines requiring low friction, low viscosity and Mid SAPS (Sulphated Ash <0.8%) oils, with a minimum HT/HS viscosity of 2.9 cP.

(three way catalyst (TWC) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)
Source https://penriteoil.com.au/knowledge-...ifications/364

Obviously there is no DPF and I'm not sure about the TWC. So I presume that the A3B3 oil could damage the catalytic converter.

Any thoughts on this?

Re: ARTICLE: Synthetic oil vs Mineral oil

The cheapest C2 rated oil is Idemitsu 5w30 which is a5/b5 and c2

If you don't have any DPF fitted just get any good 5w30 oil that suits your budget.

Amazon is selling it for 3780/gallon right now. You might wanna pick it up, price is decent looking at the trend.
