Although i drive aggresively, my KM/month are on the lower side. And i am of the opinion that a GOOD mineral oil is good enough for Getz.

@tsk - SOmeone suggested me 15W50. whats the diffrence between that and 10W40? I would be going for Castrol Magnatec.

15W50 will give you better protection in Blistering summer heat. For example when struck in a traffic jam with aircon running and Ambient temp hovering around 43 degrees.
With the kind of weather we are having this year, I doubt we will see sweltring heat, since may is already gone.
That said, I recommend 10W40 for winters and 15W50 or 20W50 for summers.
Shell has a 15W50 petrol mineral oil I guess.

I switched to Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 during the weekend.

Actually there is no huge difference. The engine has become a little smoother and slightly more responsive. Any other person driving my car will not make out any difference.

Guessed as much because of the API-CH4. Any ideas of the company? Its made in mumbai- Thane. Back label says modified synth while the front has synth written. A couple of spelling mistakes as well on the back label.

Abhik, you can switch to synthetic without flushing your engine if you fear oil seal leakage.
Get the 5W50 since you're in Delhi.

Bro with the spell mistakes and all i would'nt recommend you use it again and infact you should consider a quick change after you clock some milege, to a branded/known oil.

But how about the sludge that is there already there and the synthetic will gradually wear it down as mentioned earlier by tsk1979(on the previous page) and i dont want to end up with a blown head gasket?

Abhik, you are confused.
When engine flush is used on a high mileage engine, the high concentration of detergents clear the dirt/carbon inside the crank case which also includes the area around the oil seal.
Replacing this oil seal ,in such case is needed. No gasket blowups!

Draining your engine oil when the engine is at the warm operating temperature and shifting to synthetic without an engine flush is what i would suggest.
But, if you're still having the doubts after all my explanation , you can go ahead and use Magnatec.

Thanks so much and am sorry for troubling you with my confusion, its just that i dont want to mess up my engine or anything related and end up spending a lot of money as its a Ford at the end of the day
