Final contenders are Bridgestone b290 and yokohama Earth 1. Which one should I go for? Both seem to be in the ball park region of 3500 as per the dealers. Is it correct price as online(amazon.in) its around 3000-3200 range?
You could also try MRF ZLX 155/70 R13 (Rs.3k on amazon). Besides some positive reviews in the forum, ZLX is being heavily marketed as a tyre for comfort( TV ad's etc.). Otherwise, if you plan to retain the car longer, I would suggest B290 over Earth1.

Dealers would anyways offer some additional discount or free fitting, alignment, balancing options during the purchase.

Checked on the ZLX and the quote is around 2700-2800 per tyre. Any specific reason for preferring B290 over Earth1?

For Bridgestone B290 & Yokohama both am being offered ~3500 per tyre and no extra charge for wheel alighment & wheel balancing. Is it a good deal?

Nothing, B290 will just about edge out Earth1 in terms of handling.
I had used B290 for 50k km's in my erstwhile Alto, they retained their characteristic of grip and handling even after 3 years/50k km's. Otherwise, you wouldn't go wrong with either.

Regarding the prices, it's better if you gather quotes from a few local tyre dealers. You could also use prices from TyreDekho and Changemytyre as a reference.

Thanks. I was checking on possible effect due to the upsize and came across a few articles suggesting the deviation should not be more than 2%. So once I tried to compare the possible upsizes this is what I came across using this calculator:

When upsizing to 155/70/R13:

ARTICLE: Choosing The Right Set Of Tyres for your Car-capture.jpg

When upsizing to 155/65/R13:

ARTICLE: Choosing The Right Set Of Tyres for your Car-capture1.jpg

So, 155/70 is increasing the circumference by more than 2% and 155/65 is reducing it by ~0.3%

The additional ground clearance in the former case is welcome in our pot-hole filled bangalore roads , but I doubt my suspension will take a beating? I understand either upsize will lead to certain amount of speedo-error , but am more concerned on the suspension being affected part. Can someone throw some light on the same?

Although, not an Estilo but I hope the discussion in the below link is helpful -

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-a...-thread-5.html

I don't think suspension life could be a concern, but what could be affected is the drive- ability and FE. For a car with poor bottom-end power like Wagon R 1.0, heavier tyres will make it behave like a diesel car (with turbo lag) in traffic, however at speeds there wouldn't be much of a difference.

I would suggest to stick to the stock tyre sizes (Lxi/Vxi) , to avoid any questions on modifications, in case you decide to sell the car. And preferably, MRF ZLX's as you would save considerably over the premium tyre brands without compromising the comfort.

You already might have gone through, but JFYI -

Re: ARTICLE: Choosing The Right Set Of Tyres for your Car

Update: Finally zeroed in on Bridgestone B290 in stock size i.e. 145/70 R13 as I was not comfortable with the ~3% deviation that upsizing would have led to. Set me back by 13300 INR including rotation, alignment and nitrogen.

Initial observation:

1. Ride height seems slightly higher of course as the older MRFs were worn out at 31k kms and 7.5 years of running.

2. Comparatively smoother now. Road undulations can still be felt but less pronounced.

3. Rained as soon as I got out of the shop . No problems on wet surface.

Other options which I checked were MRF ZVTS and Firestone. Rest Apollo, ceat and gang weren't considered for obvious reasons.

Re: ARTICLE: Choosing The Right Set Of Tyres for your Car

Guys,
Have to change a Tyre of my WagonR Lxi(2007 model) which is JK now as Tyre thread came out today while driving. Will change one by one as and when vitamin M permits. Looking at Bridgestone B290 145/70R13 tubeless Tyre as below.
Bridgestone B290 TL 145/70 R13 71T Tubeless Car Tyre https://www.amazon.in/dp/B00SM9HQNU/..._NIhfBbYY8781H
Please provide your opinions about going for this through Amazon or any other Tyre recommendation?

Thanks,
Kiran

Bridgestone B290 is a good tyre; BHPian 'SoumenD' also chose same tyre for his Zen Estilo. Please check his posts earlier on this page.

Please at least change tyres in pairs if not all 4 or 5 tyres at same time. Tyre shops will charge similar(not same) amount for changing single tyre Vs all tyres.
As far as Vitamin M supply is concerned, most credit cards offer EMI options (if transaction amount exceeds certain threshold).

Re: ARTICLE: Choosing The Right Set Of Tyres for your Car

Recently booked the XUV 5OO W11(O) AWD AT, delivery scheduled by the 21st. That's a 5 week wait). The dealer said that the AWD is made only to order and the colour I wanted (Black) was produced in small batches. Could any of our members please guide me as to where I could get the new Tyres changed to AT's from the stock HT's. I live in Mumbai and my regular tyre guy says AT's not available in the 235 65 R18 size. I intend to go to the tyre place to get the tyres changed straight from the showroom when I get the vehicle. Any help appreciated.

Are the JKs stock? 11 years is way too long even if the running is less. My 2010 Estilo had the exact same configuration and had run 31k only. I changed them to B290 in stock size. Decent enough so far.

And please change all 4(if not 5) at least at one go. If you change one by one the alignment will take a hit due to different sidewall heights (although same size on paper) and that's bad for the tyres and ride quality. All the best

ARTICLE: Choosing The Right Set Of Tyres for your Car

My Tata Tiago has just clocked 27,000 kms and tyres have started showing there age.
Tyre is 175/65/R14.
Soon I am planning to change them to a bigger size and width. Planning to go for 195/55/R15.
As of now my tyres come in contact with the body from rear with 3 on back seat with these 175/65/R14 will this problem increase with the wider tyre or bigger wheels?
The tyre shop guy said that they will fix something with the shocker that will give me extra height.
Kindly put some light on this. Thanks!

1955/55/15 is an odd size tyre. I did fit it in my 2013 I20 to preserve the original circumference. It gives excellent stability and cornering. But for some reasons they are puncture prone and not pot hole friendly- I lost 6 tyres in total due to side wall damage - 4 acceleres and 2 bridgestones at various ages and various speeds. Ready availability is also a pressing issue. Now I am on 195/60/15 michelin PS3 - No complaints for 40000km

Re: ARTICLE: Choosing The Right Set Of Tyres for your Car

Hi Guys,

I have to change one of the rear tyre's of my Nano Twist as it has developed a bulge on the sidewall (MRF Tyre). Car is 3.5 years old and run only 15k Kms. Disappointing. Would this be considered a manufacturing defect?
I would like to replace it and so far the only options I have are Bridgestone and Good Year.
Needless to say, I would rather avoid MRF.
Which is the better of the two and will it be an issue if I run one new tyre (Bridgestone or Good Year) and one old tyre (MRF) on the back? The remaining MRF tyre is in good condition with minimal tread wear and no sidewall bulges.

Regards,
SS
