Just before the start of this year's Formula One season in Australia, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team has dropped the "KeepFightingMichael" hashtag from its car's livery. This has disappointed some fans of Michael Schumacher, who are hoping to see the legend make a recovery.

Ever since his tragic skiing accident in December 2013, during which he suffered serious head injuries that left him in coma, Mercedes had published a message of their former team driver on its race cars. Schumacher's health condition has been kept secret to the outside world.

The Mercedes team has defended its decision to remove the message from its 2017 championship challenger - the W08.
A team spokesperson said -
Quote:

It was to free the way for future usage of the message." The team also said, "Now, Keep Fighting is an initiative that was founded at the end of 2016 to encourage people to fight in real life based on the incredible fighting spirit of Michael. Mercedes and Michael Schumacher's family will together work on a variety of activities which will be communicated in time.
Michael Schumacher is one of the most successful drivers in the history of Formula One, winning a record 91 races and 7 World Drivers' Championships during his career.

This was quite normal I think. They find a new sponsor to take up a prime spot on the car & they remove the hashtag. Pretty straight forward. Also - if no sponsor was found for that spot - that sticker there means a few grams in the car's weight. It all adds up in performance. There is also a limit to the total weight of "paint" or "stickering" that a car carries if I'm not mistaken. So a matter of + some - some.

Anyway - the Michael story is a bit too long, with no story at all. There are hardly any updates for people to know anything about the "fight". Of course - it is great, the privacy of the legend is respected and maintained well. But then, no point keeping that hashtag on for another year as such.

Agree!
Even though we respect his privacy, It would be really great if a few updates could be received on the legend's current health. :)
