Rumour: 2024 Moto GP Bharat cancelled due to unpaid dues

https://www.autosport.com/motogp/new...stan/10610431/

India Gp to be cancelled due to promoter not paying dues to Dorna and to local contractors. !! Official announcement to come by 20th May.

What a clown act and an embarrassment to our country yet again after the F1 exit. There must be someone reliable and with sufficiently deep pockets to handle an event of such scale. Sad really..that no one does proper due diligence before handing over a contract of this magnitude!

Also, I'd suggest no one buy tickets for this year of course until the official announcement is out. And those that have already bought Good luck!

Rumour: 2024 Moto GP Bharat cancelled due to unpaid dues

After a great debut of Bharat GP last year, as per some reports 2024 GP may get cancelled due to unpaid dues by event organisers in India. The race may shift to Kazakhstan instead.

This is truly unfortunate to know and I really hope the organisers pull out a miracle and donít go down the way F1 organisers did a decade ago.

Some positive news as the promoters deny the rumours of Bharat GP cancellation. Hope they do meet all the contractual obligations and the show goes on. I’m hopeful since UP government has fair bit of play into this event especially if they will be a party to the agreement with Dorna as being reported. https://www.business-standard.com/am...1401040_1.html

What a shame and disgrace, no wonder we have no major racing events in India. Same thing happened with F1.

IndianGP promoters dismiss rumours about the 2024 BharatGP getting cancelled

BharatGP organiser Fairstreet Sports have stated that the 2024 IndianGP will go ahead as planned on September 20-23, 2024.

Fairstreet Sports, the promoter of MotoGP in India, have dismissed the rumours floating around stating that the 2024 IndianGP would be cancelled because they have not paid their partial dues to MotoGP right holders Dorna.
Fairstreet Sports and the Uttar Pradesh government have informed Dorna that the payment would be made after election results are out on June 4, 2024. Well, why do you ask? That's because Invest UP, the major sponsor of the sport in India, falls under the Government Audit, and it has to abide by the Model Code of Conduct. The promoter has informed Dorna of this predicament.

Pushkar Nath Srivastava, Fairstreet Sports CEO, has told the Press Trust of India (PTI) that, “The race is very much on. These are just rumours floating around. All of the contractual obligations will be met in June." Moreover, from 2024 onwards, it has also been learned that the UP state government will join Fairstreet Sports in organising the race.

The Uttar Pradesh government had provided a financial assistance of ₹18 crore to Fairstreet Sports for the inaugural IndianGP. In March, the government had asked local promoters for a detailed report on utilisation of funds provided for the event. The report for which has been submitted now.

From the second season onwards, it has been learned that the state government will join Fairstreet Sports in organising the race. "It will be a tripartite agreement with the Uttar Pradesh government, Fairstreet Sports and Dorna," a source revealed.

Re: Rumour: 2024 Moto GP Bharat cancelled due to unpaid dues

Don't start bashing your own country because of rumours spread by British media like Autosport, they are always keen on spreading stuff like this to grab attention. Same thing happened before the 2023 race as well, when they (along with many British journos like Patterson) were 'concerned' about the track etc. The drivers and teams loved the track and we got a good crowd of 110,000+ as well. This was more than double that their own 'Silverstone' could manage.

Let the organizers issue a statement, in fact they already have and it is going as planned. Probably a few hiccups which is quite understandable.
