Re: Want to be a Track Marshall at the Indian F1 GP? EDIT: Now closed.

Hi Guys, has anyone been contacted by IMMC yet? Earlier they had said that they would contact us by the 31st Jan. Does it mean that either we are contacted on or before 31st or not at all?

Re: Want to be a Track Marshall at the Indian F1 GP? EDIT: Now closed.

Same as on my side. Still not any reply by phone, or by message or by e-mail.
Total 2 messages received on my phone - 1st on 6th Dec. 2010 for confirmation, 2nd on 30th Dec. 2010 in which they have written that we will hear from us soon.
The e-mail which they have sent says that "You will hear from us by the end of January 2011". But its 1st Feb. 2011 now & still no one has got confirmation yet.
@ TBHPians who have signed up:
Please give us the word here if someone gets the confirmation from IMMC.
Still waiting !!

Re: Want to be a Track Marshall at the Indian F1 GP? EDIT: Now closed.

Just wondering, Are Track marshals recruited under "NO PAY" for other races also globally ?

I am quite sure Track marshals are paid sufficiently well because its an extremely critical job.

so just wondering why the Indian F1 organisers thought they will keep it a NO EXPENSES/SALARY PAID affair ?

is it because we have many petrol heads/enthusiasts who will simply put money from their pockets and work for free ?

If there is work to be done, it should be paid for ( in cash ) - thats my POV

It's voluntary and no-pay, everywhere across the globe.

Well, I think the rush of being CLOSEST to an F1 monster screaming past... for FREE... is worth more than anything anyone could pay. Hell, its even better than the 1000s that people will shell out for grandstand seats and yet be metres away from it all.

Nothing at my end as well as yet. Its voluntary but dont you think they should at least make arrangements for boarding and lodging?

Re: Want to be a Track Marshall at the Indian F1 GP? EDIT: Now closed.

Still no news at my end... either they are not gonna bother contacting anyone apart from those selected, or they are badly organised OR (worst case which I hope not!) typical Indian bureaucracy may have led to delay in finishing track an dthe race may be off calendar?

(hope none of the above is true!)

Re: Want to be a Track Marshall at the Indian F1 GP? EDIT: Now closed.

I haven't heard anything from the organisers, and I am also thinking that the powers that be will be getting pressurised to make their near and dear ones as volunteers ...
Hope is thin on the horizon.

Re: Want to be a Track Marshall at the Indian F1 GP? EDIT: Now closed.

I just received an SMS from IMMC. The selected volunteers will be notified in April as the number of people applied for volunteering are quite high.

This is the SMS I received.
"A huge number have applied for F1 volunteers, more than we can have on the track. We will notify your status in early April. Thanks for your eagerness and patience."
