Is FE a concern? If not, get the FZ* (a pre-owned if it doesn't matter) else, buy which ever ASC is close to your place & does good work. But after riding a 150 for commuting, your choices are limited

Have always loved this (FZ) brute, you can throw anything to it & it doesn't disappoint. How about a KTM?

*In commuting mode gives over 40 to a liter.

FE is a concern Sheel since it will be a weekday ride to work and back. Was thinking of the KTM but thats on hold for now since the bigger sibling might be here in some time.

KTM's bigger sibling? You have the Ninja 250R to satisfy your cravings, don't you?

Since you already own a quarter litre bike, the dynamics of FZ will make you love your weekday rides too. And probably since it will be commuting, as Sheel suggested, it can give you 40 kmpl too.
Btw, why don't you consider Impulse as well . Great handler for city traffic and FE is about 45 kmpl or more.

All nor well in Hero's biking paradise. Here is an interesting article on the current state of affairs:

It seems that Numero-Uno position is also up for grabs.
