"Hero Honda" to become "Hero MotoCorp Ltd."

Just read at MoneyControl that Hero Honda is applying for name change. And the new name is "Hero Moto".

Hero Honda gears up for name change, may call it Hero Moto - CNBC-TV18 -

Imagine calling your bike as "Hero Moto Hunk", "Hero Moto Karizma".

re: "Hero Honda" to become "Hero Moto"

OMG! Hero-Honda is so much etched in our memories that its difficult to digest this new name 'Hero Moto'. Rememer how tough it was for people to realize that Kinetic Honda was no more when those two companies split? Its going to be even tougher this time as th Hero-Honda brand has penetrated deep into our urban and rural market.

i do wish that they drop in an "r" at the end.

^^ me too thinks it should be 'Motors'. Or perhaps, they still wanted it to sound japanese - 'hiromoto', like 'aginomoto'.

re: "Hero Honda" to become "Hero MotoCorp Ltd."

The exercise of renaming Hero Honda brings to perspective the immense intangible value the word Honda brought to the brand name. I admit in the '80s not many consumers were aware of Honda as a brand, and any other name would have added the same brand value to Hero. However, things are very different now and consumers are much more aware, and the weakness of Hero as a name and brand becomes painfully acute now. No matter how many permutations and combinations it tries, Hero on its own has a very very uphill task in filling Hero Honda's shoes (beand name - wise).

Hero Moto - sounds like a phone from Motorola. A great task ahead for HH to make it sound like reliable brand.

They should name it as Hero Hando. The O name end and similar phonetic name, both birds will be killed by one stone.

"Hero Hindustani" could a be good name. The acronym remains the same.

Another option, Hero Hindustan Motors.

Sounds Japanese now. Imagine an old shaolin monk saying it while training his pupil to break a log

Heyroh Mottohh... Yoohhhh

Well what else rhymes with it. Oh yes, Ajino Moto

Instead of HeroMoto I feel they should have named it as HeroHondo as it is pretty close to HeroHonda.

re: "Hero Honda" to become "Hero MotoCorp Ltd."

The first thing that came to my mind when I read "Hero Moto" was "Hello Moto" (remember motorola's tune? It rhymes with Hero Moto alright!)
But why on earth they wanna rebrand themselves as Hero Moto?! It sounds like a kids new toy to be honest!
