Jay, Do you think its a wise idea to carry a laptop in the tail bag? My hunch is that due to bumpy ride the hard drive will get damaged quite easily. |
I personally wouldn't venture into this idea. Am sure the laptop can be placed in an area where it is not prone to shocks easily but since I haven't seen the inside of the bag, will let Santosh confirm on it.
BTW, IIRC the Cortech is not waterproof. Santosh covers the bag with an additional plastic cover. And I guess Rjays is waterproof, atleast thats what Adi told me.
Sure will check "cortech"
btw it will be 300+kms with quiet a few bad stretches, now will that be a issue:(

While PW answers your question on Rjays, check out Cortech in the meanwhile. rk_sans has one and he carries his office stuff including laptop. |

Lohith, Actually found the Cortech to be more of a snug fit on the baby ceeber. Suggest you to have a check with Santosh. |

I know the kind of stretches you are talking about
:)
Like I said before, I personally would not like the idea. Check with Santosh. Since you are in Bangalore, why don't you see the bags in person. Should give you a realistic idea.
hmmm if its not a safe thing to carry the laptop then not sure if it makes sense for me to explore this option at all??

Hard drives in laptops are generally prone to be the major cause for a laptop to break down as there are quite a lot of mechanical parts involved in it. However if you have the latest laptop which has Solid State Hard drive then it makes sense to use this tail bag.
Suggest buying a good shoulder bag should augur well.
A hard disk can take a 1000G of shock when not running. It'll be fine even if you throw it off a cliff and the external shell is not damaged due to the fall.

agree: But if its an IBM ThinkPad provided by corporates, then it has some feature to protect the HDD heads when its being moved around. This works both when the laptop is on/off. Not sure if its available in the ThinkPads sold commercially as well. If its one of these laptops, then the tail bag should be just fine albeit at a minor risk always.
At the end of the day, nothing to beat a good water proof shoulder bag.
Update
Gave my ride to the showroom. Can anybody confirm that the radiator is an external part which is not covered under warranty ?, which i find it very disturbing. However my ride in the service center, will update by evening probably, on their solution.

Can the Rjays fit the laptop? i may have to do some travelling and was wondering if i can find a bag wich can fit laptop and some cloths, any suggestions here?
And spares wise seems like Honda competing with Fiat?? hehe is Honda improving or still the same spares wise? |
It cannot hold a laptop, even a small one. If you need to carry office stuff, look elsewhere. The space available in Rjays is good with many pockets (a detachable waist pouch too) and there are many options to tie it on the bike; but it is vertical in construction which does not hold good for laptop. With expanded mode, it can hold stuff for a 2-3 day trip. Aditya has provided details of the stuff he carried in his Ninja thread.
The quality of Rjays is very good.

Congratulations mate, she does look good in the black. How well she holds her shade without showing signs of fade/age? So it appears that quite a lot of people are heading from Bangy to Coimbatore for the track. Hopefully will bump into you there:thumbs up
Ride Safe. |
It is early to comment on signs of fade/ age. As of now, the bike is holding well eventhough I do not wash it regularly; my usage is weekend rides only.
We will meet at the track event.

@ Gaurav, Now that monsoons are over - when is the next long ride you are planning on the ceeber ?
Count me in whenever you do plan one :) |
Next to next Sunday - B.U.R.N. is planning a ride to Jawahar and if that is confirmed, I look forward to meeting you on the run.

Have booked in Silver, a non-ABS. Hope to get by 15th October. |
I never thought you would look this way. In fact, I was expecting to read about your experience with the R15 V2 so I could share it with my cousin who is considering one.
Welcome on board. Look forward to you receiving your steed soon and having your thread rolling.
Congratulations!!! in advance.

I am glad that I got the bike, it is a real tourer - perfect for long rides on highway. It can cruise comfortably at 100-120 kmph and stable at those speeds.
I just came back from a ride to Horsley hills (around 450 kms) and there is no strain at all. |
Great pics!!!
Yes, I also have similar feedback.
The bike cruises comfortably even when doing 100+ and with the trottle twisted nothing more than 40-50% without any vibrations. Still better, she doesn't seem stressed even after doing so for more than an hour or two.
Anything above 130+ (
with 60% twist -- without redlining) and she takes her own sweet time to climb slowly and gradually.

I am going to the two day track event by TWO ONE Racing in Coimbatore on October 15th; intend to take it easy initially.
As you said, I am getting more confident with the bike as I clock more miles. |
Good going. :thumbs up
Do click some great pictures at the track and have a blast mate.

It might be an external part and not under warranty. But still, if the damage has been caused by the A.S.S. folks, I think that they should be the ones to bear the cost of it.
While we give the bikes on our responsibility, if the damage caused is due to untrained and inexperience staff - It should be borne by them. We are not supposed to be guinea pigs simply because we bought the bike in initial lots.
Do keep us posted on what happens. And do put this point across.
Some pics of my new jacket, clicked at home.
Nice jacket Mantrig; Joe Rocket might contact you for their advertisement. I did not know that you are such a dangerous person. :D
Your feedback with respect to CBR cruising speed is spot on.

That's my fiancee's creativity. :D
She finds me scary in all the gear and balaclava under the lid. And that's how she like to project me in front of the world to.
With regards to cruising capabilities of the bike, I am in love with the way she (CBR) cruises along in triple digits. It's making those long highway rides so much more interesting and exciting.
HAHAHA Mantrig you made my day!! I thought in the first pic you had laid down the gear on the floor for the pic. But seeing the second one i realized you were inside and hugging a wall!!
Mantrig 008 !
The things guys do for their girl !!! :D
Nice helmet btw.
Want to explore the true potential once spare parts scenario improves. :)

Thanks :)
Along with the price, CBR's exhaust note below 5K made me rotate my head in that direction in search of a bigger bike and I found the CBR cruising by.
I still find CBR uninspiring to look at, atleast from the front. Haven't taken a ride too. But now, I can't seem to wait much long, if the silver doesn't come by, by the 10th of October, I would pick up whatever is available off the shelf.
