Two New Enfields : The Bullet Standard & Electra with 500 EFI

Few days ago i had enquired about Classic 500 and somehow the waiting period disappointed me and left the thought about it.
Last Saturday, i got a call from One of the person from Royal Enfield(They claimed it).
RE: Sir, you had enquired about RE bikes.
me: Yes
RE: Are you interested in buying it still.
me: Yes
RE: We are launching 2 new bikes and we are arranging for test drives of it. It is not launched in the market yet.
me: Okay, give me more details about the bike.
RE: No, sir you will have to visit us and then you will get all the information.
me: Okay, if it is not launched in the market then how will you give test drives
RE: blah !! Blah !!

I took the address and visited them on monday morning.
The did have 2 new bikes.
1. Bullet Standard with 500 EFI
2. Electra with 500 EFI

I did not test drive the bike as they were still unloading the bike and i was running late to office. Also after seeing the bike (Old bike with new engine) did not interest me to test drive the bike.

Mods: Please merge the thread if any exists.

These two bikes are what i've been waiting for..... This is good news for me. I wonder how long it'll take to actually reach the showrooms???

Were they not supposed to come with carburetors?

Hi rk_sans. Any info on the pricing of both the models. There was also supposed to be a Thunderbird 500 release. Any updates on that?

If I remember correctly, when I'd gone to take delivery of my Thunderbird this February at the RE brand store, the chaps there had mentioned that although the Thunderbird 500 was initially on the cards for an April launch, it had been postponed by atleast a year, and that the Electra 500 would be launched earlier.

More recently, I'd heard that RE had started exporting to Brazil, all with the same production capacity. That really puts a crunch on their ability to deliver new variants.

they didn't know anything about pricing. I am planning to go there tomorrow and test drive it.
Let me know if any of you want me to check anything particularly. I am very new to Bullet world.

Just spoke to Pune's lone RE dealer (Dhone Automobiles). Asked the chap about when Standard 500 and Electra 500 is coming. As usual he had no clue!!! The fella was offering me a test-ride of Classic 500 though!!!

Where is the bike available in Bangalore? I will cancel my CBR booking if they are going to launch it soon.

Great! Hope they price it few k lesser. The Classic did the brand building well and now these should help sales better ( and export). Hope this also drops the waiting time period!

I am now sure that RE has loose Nuts! Though it might look reasonable to utilize existing trims when there'll be takers for anything they concoct, What about so called product differentiation?

They could have brought back earlier 500 trims, the fully painted CI & chrome Machismo. Soon RE might start Custom operations too- select bare 500/350 running platform & build your bike at dealership from all sorts of tanks, tool boxes, mudguards, seats etc.

I contacted the number. The timing for test ride is 10-6 PM. They are giving some free gifts today.

The test rides are available tomorrow. I will see if I can go tomorrow. Thanks
