Q & A with Indimotard
How and when did Indimotard start?
Indimotard in its current form has been around for 3+ years, while the concept of sharing the experience of being on the road with friends has been with us for more than 8 years. We are a self funded organization keen on organic growth while consciously straying away from the corporate outlook to business.
What are the different packages & services on offer? We would particularly like to know about the track racing event.
1. Premium Guided Motorcycles tours through India, Cambodia and Sri Lanka. These tours are luxury holidays that allow us to share our experiences of seeing the world on a motorcycle. The package adventure is all inclusive holiday. Motorcycles, Luxury Stay, Mechanical and Medical support, Tour Guides and the rest of the little nuances that make a trip memorable and safe.
2. T.W.O. Track and Riding School : India’s first motorcycle track day and riding school. Discover the art of riding your motorcycle to the limit, while learning to be quick, safe and smart in the safest possible environment. We’ve got experienced instructors who will put you through the paces on the track and in our theory sessions. T.W.O is for riders who want more from their motorcycles, not just racers! We run the school 5 to 6 times a year at the Kari Speedway and have a very good turnout of people from all over India.
3. IndiMotard Xclusive Garage: This is our most recent initiative, providing full service garage for the up and coming superbike owners in India. This market is largely untapped and is catered for today by the roadside mechanics and we aim to turn this around by providing a professional setup for the discerning customer.
How big is your bike inventory? Which bikes do you have?
We have a fleet of over 20+ motorcycles, with a mix of brand new Royal Enfield Classic 500cc motorcycles to custom built touring motorcycles and our personal choice of enduro machines that slide through corners with remarkable ease and weapon like trajectories. (please don't try this at home)
Can customers bring their own bikes? If yes, how does this impact the packages?
Customers are welcome to bring their own bikes and there will be a difference in the total package offered to them.
What are the charges for the different services & packages on offer?
The charges for all the tours are listed on our website and we try and add one new destination or route each calendar year. The Track and Riding School (T.W.O) program is currently listed at INR 3900/rider that includes the two exclusive days of instructions, track time with medical officials and marshals. These are also listed on our website under the T.W.O pages.
Are these rides / events, age specific? (Riders below and above a certain age only)
The only limitation for coming on our rides apart from having a valid Drivers License is an open mind and the thirst for travel.
What official documentation is required to register as a rider for a trip / track racing days?
Folks wanting to come on our tours do require a valid drivers license. As for our track days there is no upper limit, while the lower limit is around 15 years of age. They will of course need to know how to ride a motorcycle, since our T.W.O school is meant for people who want to improve their riding (on and off the track) while unlearning the "habits" of defensive riding.
Do any ambulances / doctors ride with the convoy? What other forms of support infrastructure is available for the participants?
All our tours are run with safety as our primary concern. While our high altitude tours to the Himalayas are fully supported by medical kits to oxygen tanks, the T.W.O even is supported by a medical ambulance which is on standby and corner marshals who provide service on the track. Rider briefings happen every day on our tours, the vast network of contacts who provide us road sense information are all important aspects of our tours. We are fully equipped to handle any emergencies ranging from the machine to man, with our backup support vans who follow the convoy throughout all our tours.
Where (in and outside of India) are your road-trips organized? What is the duration of each trip?
We currently provide tours in India ranging from the Himalayas to the beautiful western ghats of Kerala, Tamil Nadu. Our overseas motorcycle tours in Cambodia and Sri Lanka have been hugely successful and in the coming years the addition of places like Vietnam, Thailand are on the cards. Closer home on the border our custom trips to Bhutan are in the pipeline as we speak. India has so much more to see and offer and while our tired wrists may rest a while, our passion of sharing India continues unabated as we add more exotic destinations to our portfolio. Apart from this, our weekend tours (Boomerang Weekenders) are from Bangalore and custom crafted tours for friends is part of our yearly adventure.
Is the insurance of the bike / rider covered in the price of the package? What happens in case the bike gets damaged?
Although the motorcycles are insured (road legal), customers are expected to pay for any additional damage to the motorcycles on actuals.
How many customers have you had so far? How many events do you host in a month?
We have over 100+ customers on our tours while we have successfully graduated over 250+ students trackside with our T.W.O events. We run about 5 to 7 tours and about 5 to 6 T.W.O track events every year and it keeps us more than busy.
Do you have back-up service mechanics, in case of a bike breakdown?
All our tours include two tour guides (fully equipped with communication devices) and qualified mechanics, spares and tools.
