Re: Hero Impulse

You won't believe it, but the first time I even heard of this bike was when I saw it during the presentation ceremony during the 1st ODI between India and England! Or was it the 2nd?

Anyhoo, I saw Virat Kohli getting the keys to it, and the moment I laid my eyes on it, I was

For a second, I wondered. What in the world is that? I was under the impression KTM/Bajaj have pulled off something quite spectacular, and within seconds, i realized that it's a Hero!

To be honest, it looks like a great bike. This is the first time any company in india has moved away from giving us a superbike-ish fairing and gone the dirt-bike route. And it's a great move IMO. And honestly, it's a much much better alternative to the idiotic Hunk.

Re: Hero Impulse

I was literally salivating at the pics of the bike. This should turn out to be a good motorcycle to go rally'ing in. Just wish that it had the Karizma engine

Re: Hero Impulse

As others have rightly pointed out, the Hero Impulse is heavily inspired by the Honda NXR 150 Bros.

Here is the Honda from Brazil.

How much long can Hero go on by depending on Honda? I am sure Hero has struck a good deal with Honda during the breakup to be 'inspired' for a couple more years. This may lead to short term gains, but they really need to find their feet with inhouse R&D for long term benefit. It is late already, but better late than never.

Re: Hero Impulse

I've seen it in flesh (HH Showroom Banaswadi ORR) and just loved the design, like a mini BMW Fundro I casually spoke to the service guy and he said it's gonna retail a 75 to 80k.
But then came the dissapointment, a 150cc mill just does not cut in.
If only it had the mill of the Karisma atleast, it would have been a great choice for one of those leh, ladakh trips

Re: Hero Impulse

I am doing one Big bore for new CBZ(which shares the same engine as Unicorn, Hunk etc) with BBR big bore kit, it includes 195 cc cylinder kit, high lift race cams, CDi with no rev limit and aggressive ignition curve.
Expecting 6-8 extra BHP, this solution will be sure going to make this bike a killer machine.

I saw the advertisement today, while watching the India vs. WI ODI. Honestly, it could have been better. The advertisement, that is. It's no different from those Hero Bycycle ads.

The bike looks promising though. It would have been perfect if it had the 'Zma's motor. A nice bike to practice your tuning skills. Would be a hit around the Indian closed-racing circuits.

Re: Hero Impulse

Have been Eyeing this machine for a while and finally decided to go to the showroom to day to check out the bike in flesh.

I'm a Bullet guy and i consider all other 2 wheelers as bikes ( sorry this is just IMO - no offence to any other motorcycle owner ) however i was really impressed by the looks of this machine and could not stop myself from going and having a TD.

I went to Ess aay agencies Hero India ? Hero MotoCorp Ltd. | Find A Dealer

The welcome and handling was not too nice with very little manpower or maybe with the bosses not around. I'm actually a impulsive guy who can be easily nailed with a good presentation and scheme. Here are few things that i would like you guys to know -
  • NO TD bike available
  • On road in Delhi rs 75700
  • No brochure available
  • I personally think that it would look super cool w/o the leg guard and the saree guard
First impression ( + )

  • Very good
  • Black one doesnt look like a Indian bike at all
  • pretty impressive tyres
First Impression ( - )
  • Height - Pretty tall body ( one needs to be atleast 5'9 to keep the legs on ground - I'm 5'9 and perfect fit for this..little taller could have helped )
  • Gears - single gear lever ( I personally dont like it as i think it spoils the shoes )
  • Seating position - the difference between the seat and handle was little close
  • 4 S and 150 cc - should have been more powerful
Here are a few pictures that i managed to click.

PS - I just came back from the showroom just now and writing this report
