2012 Bajaj Pulsar spotted finally. EDIT : Now Launched!

EDIT: Report and pictures from the unveil have been placed in a new thread for the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS

-------

Source: newbajajpulsar

Salient points to be noted:

1. uno suspension
2. adjustable swing arm leght
3. not too upright seating, but pretty much rear sets
4. RVM has been a total rip off of current pulsars
5. sporty hanging rear footpegs

Regards,
Abhishek M

Looks more on the lines of a mod P135 to me. The shape and design of the rear end is very similar to that of the P135 IMO. Especially the rear seat. As much as the blog suggests it's not a P135 Mod Job, fitting Monoshock suspension on a Pulsar is not something I've never seen before. It's very much a possibility.
Well, just a guess though.

Hey Ashwin! I dont think its a mere P135 mod job, coz look closely & you would find novel touches (adjustable swigarm length, uno shock etc). The spottings also kinda concur with the imminent launch as Mr. Rahul as said earlier.

So, lets hope for the best!!

Abhishek

re: 2012 Bajaj Pulsar spotted finally. EDIT : Now Launched!

Looks like a mix between P135(rear part), Honda Dazzler(tank and shrouds) and FZ-ish headlamp cluster. Not a bad design. But I guess some were expecting a full faired sports bike. They've stuck with the street fighter theme. Round headlamps would have been better IMHO.

Good thing that they went in for mono-shocks. Hope it'll be still a VFM product with great pricing.

1. Where's the exhaust?
2. That looks to be the KTM engine. May be they want to use the KTM 125 engine for the new pulsar?

3. Isn't it 'KTMRacing' written on the sides?
4. Rear drum brakes?

5. New switchgear
6. New grabrails (like RTR)

re: 2012 Bajaj Pulsar spotted finally. EDIT : Now Launched!

Like someone has said before, it looks more on the lines of the Pulsar 135, save the mono shock at the rear and a few minor changes. Though we'll have to wait to see the bike in full, in a single shot before concluding.

The last major change if i'm not wrong was in 2006 right ? The one where diital odo, backlighting etc. was introduced ? I actually expected a completely different bike this time, so a tad bit disappointed.

Can anyone confirm if the engine remains the same or has it changed ?

Plus with almost no rear mudguard, wont it be a problem during monsoons ?

Shashank - They are only test machines so bare minimums on them. They will have rear mudguards, saree guards etc (as per provisions of Motor Vehicle act for bikes in India)

Any information about the engine specs? Heard in some websites that bajaj are planning to launch a new technology superior to the present dtsi engines.

re: 2012 Bajaj Pulsar spotted finally. EDIT : Now Launched!

That is a liquid cooled KTM engine!!

What is the possibility that the 2012 pulsar is a 125-150CC KTM engine. They might just kill the existing 220cc DTSi engines so as to not have a conflict with the KTM Duke 200.

re: 2012 Bajaj Pulsar spotted finally. EDIT : Now Launched!

a few points to note, which i gather:

1. rear sporty fender, lifted off P135: makes sense to me. Why to design something new again, when you have one in your own parts bin!

2. engine/crank decal: its not a Honda tets mule (for those who are wondering) , the orange color is a give away.

3. there is a good chance of Bajaj lifting KTM's engine and detuning a bit for price factor. so get a hint of the specs, by taking around .85 of the katoom ones.

4. Seems Bajaj is gonna launch nakeds first and probably come up later with some faired iterations later.

Ride safe,
Abhishek

If this is the new Pulsar, then this would be start of their decline.

Quite agree. Hope they don't dig their own grave in their quest of capturing volume market.

Bajaj KTM Prototype 250 Singles? ktm-bajaj-pulsar-250-roadster

Looks quite similar to the prototype in the link above.
