Re: KTM Duke 200 launched @ an introductory price of Rs. 1,17,500/- (Ex-Showroom Delh

I just hope it lives up to the expectations in terms of reliability and build. A few ownership threads post ladakh trips will clear the fog!
Are you getting one for yourself? Or the 350 is what you are waiting for?

True that. Only time and real life ownership experiences will tell.

Yeah I am getting the 200. The 350 is too far away and life is too short.

I reached the store at 1:45pm (before the display bike had arrived) and they already had 45 post-dated cheques with them

Initial lot would probably be booked in a matter of days (unless the new pulsar is in the same/similar segment).
I went to the Kanjur Marg outlet today. They are accepting bookings. Delivery is within 90 days.

surely i don't want a spares pricing strategy like other europeans like skoda or vw or renault.
According to the guy at Kanjur Marg, the soft compound tyres cost around Rs. 8,000 (both) and have a life of 10,000 km. This will mean a running cost of 80 paise per km only for the tyres!

Wow that is some excellent pricing by Bajaj/KTM as usual. Although the waiting period is a bit of a letdown, I would love to get one when I am back in India.

Rajiv Bajaj has claimed in an interview that the Duke 200 is more than 90% localised (even the USD forks are made here).
Spares should ideally (on that basis) be on the cheaper side.

The PowerParts accessories might be costly, assuming they are imported.

The outlet said (on Saturday) that they had more than 180 post-dated cheques with them

Not sure about the post dated cheque story, but I did visit the showroom today as the bike was on display! Awesome feel. but in some places, quality was left to be desired. Example: The taping of the cables as shown below.

Did you thumb the starter and hear it Shubz? Please tell us how it sounded.

P.S. Not sure about this post-dated story either. The booking amount is actually pegged back by Bajaj to 20,000/- (officially).

err i hope you dont mind me answering,The exhaust sounds like a free flow exhaust not irritatiing one,but you can hear a clatter similar to what you hear in a 2 stroke with an expansion chamber.I heard one of the guys who had come to look over say it sounds like a rickshaw. The throttle response was crisp.Ergonomics, definitely comfy for city(i would say similar to the fz).Throw in a larger tank and am happy to take it for touring.
